March 2025
It's a great arcade racing game, probably even too simplified, let's say you'll have no problems with 2/5 TC and breaking at like 100m marker before a hairpin turn in any series car, which is a little absurd but whatever. If you liked GRID 2019 (which let's never forget was delisted by EA because f you lmao), you'll love it, playing on controller is much more enjoyable and responsive. Like the GRID games before it's very light on customization - you'll have lots of very generic patterns and that's it. The main focus were always the races and devs did a good job making them feel full of action, meaningful and short (oh more on that later). Compared to other latest games like snoozefest FM and outright trash TDUSC, the racing is very engaging and fun. Also one of the worst decisions was made by the devs to make CAREER races online by default unless you set it to OFFLINE manually, which is beyong dumb and you'll see a lot of people complaining about. It adds a lot of waiting, disables restarting, pausing... NOW what IS bad it that the devs always try to ruin this game by incredibly terrible race setups in both story and career events. What i mean by that is that half of events for whatever dumb reason are at night or/AND during some of the most extreme pouring rain ever witnessed by man. The last two story events were during an insane storm at night, which i think totally ruined them. And i bet your local ghetto streets have more lighting than tracks in this game at night, because even the GP tracks are mostly pitch black, almost like the lighting isn't working at all. Have you guys ever seen Abu Dhabi GP at night? It's BRIGHT, we have figured the electricity, come on. But that's not all, because the faster the cars get deeper in the career, the worse the tracks will feel - for example they'd put the fastest GT cars on a goddamn Zhejiang circuit or a very tight city street track. After around 20 hours when i got into pro league, the experience became miserable, because these fast cars with those arcade physics are definitely not designed for these tracks. So what you get in the end is a night race with a pouring rain, so you can't see shit and you're in a car that does 1-100 in 1sec on a track with average speed of 50kmh. You're 22th and you have 3 laps to get the 1st place or restart. Also you'll get penalised for 2sec if your ass even leaves the track, no matter you gained or lost time. Sounds good? Oh yeah, they also removed qualifying, so you can't even get a better starting position for more difficult tracks. And it's not like the last game where you could finish at whatever place and move on improving at your own pace, no bro, you HAVE TO finish 1st or the event would be failed. There are also added random "mistakes" that your opponents could make, but it looks like this: the poor soul that managed to stay ahead of you for some time just randomly gets smitten by God, suddenly turning 90deg to the side (on the straight) and rolling violently. It's actually hilarious and i have no idea why would they implement it like that, but it's fun :D If they're lucky they could also just lose a wheel or their engine blown up. Overall one of the best arcade racing games out there, get it if you're a fan of the genre.

Great arcade game. Played a ton on Xbox and just got it for PC. - Runs great on handhelds. - Ai Simulates an ACC open lobby pretty realistically. Getting Tboned and not being called a slur feels kinda empty tho. - Acting is cringy like a mf, it was to be expected and if you are of strong mind and spirit you can push through it. Story has its moments tho. - Gameplay is ok for what it is. Braking feels off at times and steering is a bit inconsitent in open wheelers imo. Nothing I would call a deal breaker and if you haven't played sims then 90% of people won't even care. - Some of the real tracks feel weird, Brands Hatch got plastic surgery and you can now go three wide on it. My guess is that they changed them a bit to make it easier to drive for casuals but they still kept that god forsaken docks track. When on discount its dirt cheap, Not a game I play for hours straight, but for a few races every now and then when I have time, this is great.

A great arcade racing game. If you are expecting a sim, don't bother. The story is great and compelling, but it is obvious the writers aren't very interested in cars or racing. The story never changes track whether you finish 8th or 1st, very irritating that on the hardest difficulty I can win every race and still have my team tell me I suck and "need to prove myself". AI are very competitive and hold their own without rubber banding or cheating. Physics are a nice blend between realistic and fun, but the physics are too good for how bad the tuning is. The tuning is almost worthless except for a few cars because of how rough the sliders are. However, most of the cars I drove didn't need tuning because they are fairly easy to drive at the beginning of the game (I only use ABS assist because I'm on controller, maybe thats why). Can't speak for online or career mode. Fun? yes. Good Story? Also yes. A game for hardcore racing fans? Maybe not. P.S. Sometimes the cut scenes look grainy. I have a 4k monitor and the settings say I'm playing at the full resolution, don't know whats happening there.

Fun in and of itself, just missing the mark Alrighty, let me yap for a bit. Do I enjoy this game? Yes! Would I recommend it? Yes! Would I recommend it over other simulation games? Not really. My Opinion Grid Legends is an amazing game in an of itself but its style really isn't for me. The graphics are amazing and the car models are impressive and detailed. My problem comes with how the car feels (I play on keyboard and wheel). The slightest movement sends the car so far either left or right and there is a lack of any sense of downforce. Some of the track layouts aren't thought out well and could use some work. I've said a lot of negative, so let's talk about positives! The live-action cutscenes are unconventional for the genre, and it works! It really gets you into the game. The only issue with them are when there are scenes of real people with the "fake" cars, it just seems out of place. The acting by some actors is questionable, but it's a racing game company, not Hollywood. The DLC's are generally worth it, though it forces you to race some uncomfortable races to advance through the campaign ( i dont like the stadium trucks, sorry y'all). Facts This was all opinion, let's go facts: [*] There are plenty of tracks to play on [*] Compared to other racing sims (Forza Motorsport, ect.) there are less cars to choose from [*] The game does have some crashing issues at times The menu isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing to the eye and feels like an outdated game- not in a good way. Do I recommend it? Would I recommend buying the game? Only when it is on sale. I got the Deluxe edition for $15.99 and it was worth it. Would I pay $79.99 for it? No. Even the Base game, $59.99? No. The Graphics are next-level, the actual content, is not, really. Ultimately, it's up to you. Look up gameplay and see how you think it feels. It is a different unconventional type of racing, it feels "tighter" than other racing games. It is very beginner friendly and runs well and looks amazing. It is NOT a hardcore sim but is fun and was worth the 16 dollars I spent. Thanks for reading this. I spent more time on this than I did on college applications. Priorities amirite?

If it's on sale, it's a pretty fun way to spend (in my case) over 90 hours of your time. Story mode and a careermode with alot of different cars, tracks and locations. It looks great, the cars handle like you would expect, the weather actually impacts the griplevels to some degree, and different drivetrains handle differently. Upgrades are basic, and so is the tuning, but at least you can change the characteristics of the car. The AI is pretty basic, they want to race on the racingline and will sometimes act a bit weird if you're on it. The griplevels of the AI is off the charts, if you accidentally bump into them, their car doesn't react and your car will sometimes lose all grip and spin out. Their spatial awareness is the complete opposite, most of the time they won't see you (even when in front), and will take you out. But all in all, a lot more fun than Dirt 5
