This game is seriously in need of an update. I've already got all of the Goobie's upgrades and cannot make it past Stage 7. Please make an update increasing the upgrades for the Goobie and perhaps create a sort of Prestige system or something similar.

Originally caught my eye when popular YouTuber and streamer Hutts played this. Bought it, played it myself and enjoyed my time. Visually very stimulating, and the upgrades and combat feel so satisfying. It's very worth the six dollars you spend. Based on that, I can give this title a thumbs up. It's a fine game all on its own. However, I have had little reason to pick it back up after my initial burst. There just isn't any content to work towards, or really any content at all. The Dev(s?) has been radio-silent for quite a long time now, and it doesn't look like there will any updates, which is disappointing for a Roguelike. If there were at least modding support and a healthy modding scene, I wouldn't mind the base game being in its current state. I certainly hope this title doesn't fade into obscurity.

It's a fun little vampire survivors-like game. My only real problem is how the runs don't end until you die. Many games will cap a session at 20 or 30 minutes and it would be easy to just include the current version as an "endless mode." This is of course a personal nitpick the game was fun for many hours I definitely feel I got my money's worth.

Fun little game. Kind of cathartic in a way. The sound effects are like ASMR sometimes. Also can get pretty challenging.

Goobies I think is a standout in the vampire survivor-like category. I've played a lot of these and the unique spin on them just doesn't do it for me. Goobies has the permanent game modifiers of Risk of Rain artifact system where you pick one permanent effect to spice up your run which I really like while also have the permanent stats where you grind run after run to collect to make runs easier. You can choose to auto fire or manually aim your main projectile like 20 Minutes Before Dawn. It really meshes these aspects of other games well and it all works in tandem and allows for good customization to your play style. It really feels like it isn't missing anything or doing anything excessive. I'ts just right. Other games alike have your runs end by an inescapable death or a run timer. Goobies is unlimited and allows you to take runs to ridiculous times with how the scaling works and I love that. Other games are adding this option for endless runs, but it's an after thought and doesn't really feel too fluid and with some games limiting leveling and the most famous title being Vampire Survivors, the egg system, allows you to become god before the run even begins at an unlimited amount with the egg system and it feels flawed. Goobies takes the Risk of Rain approach in infinitely scaling enemies, but also scaling your character so hard you at any point in time can still nuke enemies which I think is the chef's kiss of this game. Art style is so simple yet endless. I feel like this game could have released in eras past and will look good in the future. I have such a huge respect for this kind of art due to a risk of lag and general performance. You will end up lagging and freezing up the longer you go but it takes runs ranging from 2 to 3 hours to even just barely start going nuts. There are some cons here and there but in terms of characters and items being good and bad I'm not too concerned. These games are solely for fun and nobody should expect stuff like frequent balance changes to things. Number 1. I love the unique powers the characters have from the bouncing aoe to the fire trail and the lil' dude who runs and gains momentum for more DPS. If run times are what you're going for, the starting character is by far the best option. With having more choices of powers and the most basic and easy controls, it's a no brainer and sadly leaves the others behind. This game has a really unique run ender being too much AoE. 3 hours in actively avoiding AoE powers I had rolled so much random AoE roulette's a random power I rolled became so big, I couldn't see the map anymore so the red balls it shoot's were too hard to see, and enemies. You can die from being too powerful which is a little annoying but still funny. Having the option for an additional power to select allows you to avoid this and keep your runs going. Number 2. The way it forces you into another stage can be pretty inconvenient. Each level doesn't reset health, if you lived, or are getting attacked while you're moving on. That's your health for the next stage which has cheated me out of a few runs. If you're being moved into the next level by the expanding ball fighting a mini boss or trying to get an item, well then too bad. The bubble expanding doesn't really add anything exciting besides some inconveniences from time to time. Number 3. This is kind of a nitpick I feel. EXP becomes such a drag later on when you get into the 50,000 and up range. I can't but just watch the EXP bar move so slowly and getting a little bored even with max exp modifiers. This game by far has the biggest slow down in later levels and sends me into dopamine withdrawal. Number 4. This game could simply use and thrive off of more content. Overall solid game and I highly recommend it. Especially for the price with how many hours you'll get out of it.
