the same type of game as getting over it (obviously) but way more fair and easy to master than its inspiration. worth checking out. i wish it had more philosophy like the original game did though.

Golfing Over It with Alva Majo is the same as Getting Over It in essence, although I prefer the latter. This game is still great don't get me wrong, I just hate controlling a ball. This game made me rage and I definitely injured my scalp, maybe this game did its job too well. In all seriousness, I really loved the challenge and though I was mad, it just made me hungrier to clear the game and finish the speedrun and hit limit challenge. A simple yet gruesome game. Recommended but not for the weak hearted...

Getting Over It on Easy Mode. Getting Over It was more philosophical, while Golfing Over It focuses on having precise mechanics instead of the clunky randomness that Getting Over It had. Which seems to be missing the point of psychological torture, you are to be broken and born a new person. Alva Majo creates here a rather easy experience, of course it has its instant difficulty, but a lot of the path to the top is safe, I did not fall to the bottom more than a few times. It's also easier towards the top, Getting Over It got more difficult, higher risk and scarier the higher you went. It's not a bad game, I'm glad I did it, but every remix needs to add something to the experience. Still an enjoyable game, if you are looking for an easier difficulty challenge game, then this is for you.

I've golfed over it in about 6 minutes and in about 200 strokes, which means I've gotten every achievement in the game. Here's what I'll say; I think people who dislike it are within their right to do so, but I think the way people are analyzing the game paints Alva Majo in way too negative a light. Dialogue in-game states that this game goes against his usual design philosophy, so while he had fun making it, the "lack of creativity" some people are noticing is probably due to the fact that he's venturing in uncharted waters making this game. Bennett Foddy had the background experience making QWOP, which is a game with clunky controls, which is why when it came to making "Getting Over It", there's a lot of creativity in more than just the clunky character control scheme. Looking at Golfing Over It's gameplay divorced from comparisons to Getting Over It, I think that it's actually very responsive. There's a small lack of clarity in certain objects' hitboxes, but once you encounter them, using an extra midair stroke is enough to position yourself comfortably away from them. Despite what some people have said, it's actually a very fair game. Think an obstacle is too hard? Usually you can jump right over and skip to the next one if you think it's easier to land there. For the people that think that this experience is nothing like Getting Over It, I think that one key aspect links them, which is both why I both enjoyed this game and would recommend it to people who liked Getting Over It; They are both games that once you master your control, you can climb the whole challenge in mere minutes. In both games, I was able to experience learning the mechanics such that I went from doing hours per attempt to attempts per hour, which is a gaming experience I don't find all that often. Personally, I think people who think this game isn't lenient enough have a skill issue, since the game is significantly shorter than Getting Over It, hence it shouldn't require much handholding (and even still, there is occasionally an entity that will save you from a massive fall). Obviously, I still have my gripes with the game (like the hitboxes mentioned earlier), but they don't take a lot away from the experience, so I'm willing to look over them for being made as part of a passion project. TLDR; Get the game if you have the itch to re-experience the mastery of an intentionally clunky control scheme in a similar but distinct way compared to Getting Over It.
