I cannot explain the sense of nostalgia this games brings to me, something that Stormgate is trying SO HARD to make me feel that, actually do the opposite If Stormgate tries to sell you Starcraft, Godsworn is the Warcraft 3 feel you are searching for, I think this is the only sentence I can use that truly explains the feeling of this game. On the other hand, the game is still really fresh, but the multiplayer (thing that I did a lot during the demo period that is not reflected on this review time playing) is complex enough to spend some good time playing without making you feel tired of it The balance aspect, deepness of the project or how certain features are missing is something that, in a way, reflects the Early Access state of this game, but at the same time I don't thing prioritizing all that right now is necessary since, this is not Blizzard company, this is a complete Indie game that truly reach that point that deserves more recognition Honestly, for someone that has been replaying the old same games I always played, having the excuse to pick something new that feels old makes me really exciting. And just in case, old in the good way, copying those mechanics that really normalized the "most optimal experience of playing that type of game"

I didn't expect much from this RTS, as I think the genre has been of life support since Starcraft 2. I bought Godsworn expecting a clunky game, as are most modern real time strategy game. And I was wrong: for a game made by two people, Godsworn has a very high quality value. The game is smooth, looks and plays great. There's a great campaign (albeit only five maps are released as of now), with decent writing, and I can't wait to learn what happens to the character.

Played for 10 hours yesterday, played through the campaign they had the missions were very fun. The "part 1" story arch was actually really interesting. Played a few skirmishes and those were all a blast. This game feels like a spiritual successor to Warcraft 3 that I never got. Well worth getting in early access and staying tuned to what they do with this beautiful game.

"A hand-crafted labour of love - Warcraft 3 set in the Northern Crusades, pagan peoples vs Teutonic Knights in the dark depths of the Baltics" That's the USP for Godsworn, an immensely nostalgic yet modern RTS from a new two (2!)-person studio. Put simply - Godsworn will make people who grew up with the Warcraft series before it was an MMO feel immensely nostalgic for their childhood, and for those who didn't, it'll serve as a fantastic example of what RTSes could/should be outside of the competitive sphere. Godsworn's central conceit is that you pick a god - currently 3 gods from the Baltic pantheon, joined (opposed) by the Archangel Michael - and that god defines the way your faction plays in-game. The usual food/wood/gold resources are there, joined by a fourth resource - Faith - which your villagers (or worshippers, in Godsworn lingo) generate by praying at the Shrine at the heart of your village. It's a fantastic game characterised by one of the best, most detailed art styles I've seen in a modern RTS. Everything is instantly readable whilst being characterful and thematically appropriate to the Baltic pagan setting. Units change and evolve their appearance as they're upgraded, and visually the sight of a charging mass of Teutonic Knights never fails to entertain. In terms of gameplay, all the fundamentals are there, although it's still in (very, very) Early Access, so there are a couple bugs being ironed out, and the main critique of the game is that content is still being added. My only personal criticism of the game so far is that while I instantly 'clicked' with the Baltic gods and goddesses, Archangel Michael and his angelic cohort feels a bit 'shoehorned in', although possibly once the single-player campaign is finished that'll change. I'd have preferred the Teutonic faction to stay strictly human - thereby adding more mystique (and contrast) to the Balts and their deities. If you're at all a fan of RTSes with a story, and especially if you're a fan of old-school Warcraft 3, give Godsworn a try. It's doing Warcraft Reforged better than Blizzard did - although it's also very much its own thing. I can't wait to see where it goes next.

My biggest complaint are the UI issues. Some buffs can't be read. A few typos. A quest not activating. Subtitles completely wrong or missing. That being said, you can FEEL the passion and RTS love in this. Regardless of all above, I recommend the hell out of it.
