If it's on discount MUST get it Even without the discount the price is pretty reasonable, although like typical indie game the grind is a lil on the too much side

It's a fun, unique little game. Cooking on its own doesn't seem that interesting, but cooking and cannibalism? That got my attention. The cartoony graphics and dark premise make for an atmosphere that's both cynical and silly, and the developers play into this with the in-game news articles and descriptions of planets and aliens. The main gameplay is reasonably straightforward with the main challenge being to keep track of who likes what, who's available, and how best to kill them, which can get pretty tough when you have six different species on the same planet, plus a couple of random extras. The music is pretty good, too, and what plays is mostly under your control via the radio in the kitchen. The track "Deserted Resort" is a great fit for a day when you need more meat, so you decide to just go nuts, arm every trap in the place and kill everyone who walks in the door. A number of other reviews complain about the keyboard controls. They're just falling into a trap of habit. The controls are only bad if you insist on using WASD for movement. Use the arrow keys for movement instead, and it's like playing a well-made platformer or an old DOS game. I normally end up complaining about developers thinking WASD Is God, but in the case of this game, it's the players with the problem and the developers have provided a perfectly good control scheme if they only thought to try using it. Another complaint that's not really a problem is the game getting too hectic. If it starts getting too busy, just have a day serving deliberately-bad burgers to lower your prestige a bit. Gives you an opportunity to use up that stack of Lerevee burgers that nobody likes which you have no doubt accumulated from killing the little pests when they come to steal your burgers. A few minor issues include the fact it's a bit too easy to confuse a couple of the ingredients on an order, that the unlockable skins have a bit too much space between the number of consecutive days needed between the last two, and that the tracks in the out-of-game soundtrack seem to be named by what they were originally intended for rather than how they're actually used or what they're called in the game. Overall, a fun little experience on Linux.

I wish there was a middle grade. The core gameplay loop is excellent in this game. The cooking sim portion is slow paced enough that if you manage your timings there's plenty of time to explore the space & do other things. The cannibal aspect gives you a huge incentive to step away from the cookers, both to get more resources and to minimize your prestige gain. More prestige means more customers, which also means more suspicion & a much more dangerous working environment. Meat on the counter also does not carry over but meat in the fridge does, which is absolutely punishing if you're moving too quick at the end of a session. The reason why I would not recommend the game however is that it is a roguelike. It feels *awful* to lose a constructive day of progress, especially if a lot of that progress went into killing & buying ingredients. There are a lot of dead spots where the player character simple cannot move and the npcs can easily box you in. Getting chased by even two of the basic customers is a death sentence. Your upgrades are the only thing which carries over, which massively encourages spending all your cash on upgrades & nothing else. Overall this is a good game. It is however hampered from being a great game by the inability to stockpile ingredients, the need to re-unlock *every single fucking planet*, and the janky combat. I'd love to see a "Slow Mode" added which permanently unlocks planets (you'd still need to spend the cash & get enough prestige to visit) & reduces the prestige gain (so you get fewer customers and there's less need to kill everyone). It would also be a significant improvement if at least some ingredients carried over from playthrough to playthrough. It should be possible for example to start with only 15 buns and no extra ingredients, but at the moment the game gifts you a large amount of basic supplies on every restart. Basically I'd like the ability to start on planet 2 with a new run as a change of pace.

I do think the game is fun, but if you are able to play with controller I highly recommend it. The controls are not fun on keyboard (you can't use your mouse). I do wish there were more differences on the other worlds you can go to, but overall I enjoy the game.
