After completing the main storyline, I can confidently say that it was a remarkable journey. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting this game to be as good and astonishing as it turned out to be. When I bought it, I thought it was just another story about a god-killer. In reality, it turned out to be an amazing reboot of the series, offering more emotional depth than any of the previous games — and, frankly, more than most games overall. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2761343053 This God of War takes a very different approach compared to its predecessors. While the earlier games focused on Kratos destroying everything and everyone in his path, this installment delves into themes of remorse, redemption and reckoning with the past. Instead of merely slaying another god (or gods), the story revolves around the father-son dynamic, and the developers handled it masterfully, or at least to a very high standard. The main storyline kept me hooked throughout, and at no point did I feel the urge to stop playing or just drop the game. The graphics are stunning, even when compared to newer titles, and the gameplay holds its own. While I can’t say the gameplay is entirely without flaws, these minor drawbacks don’t detract from the overall experience. I particularly appreciated how Santa Monica Studio crafted a combat system that’s simple yet engaging, epic without feeling overwhelming. I would also like to point out a sense of cyclicality that some players might notice. There aren’t that many enemy types in the game (aside from the main bosses), and while certain elements are varied in some ways, the core remains the same. However, the game manages to counterbalance this repetition effectively, which is quite satisfying and ensures it doesn’t become a significant drawback for the majority of players. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2925853587 In conclusion, I’d say this game is absolutely worth everyone’s attention. God of War has rightfully earned its accolades (though I wouldn’t rank it above RDR2 in terms of Game of the Year). If you’ve ever considered trying it, I highly recommend at least giving it a shot.

Incredible game but SHOULD NOT BE STEAM DECK VERIFIED. There is a memory leak that causes the game to crash every time RAM hits ~14gb. You can lower the quality on a number of settings so that it takes longer to hit 14gb, but the game will still crash every 40 mins to an hour. I’ve played this game before on PlayStation and it was a much better experience because there’s no memory leak/no crashing.

I like that Sony finally got a bit over their "only console" mentality, even if pc gamers have to wait much longer... I'm happy to finally see some of the big games on pc. Since God of War was very well received, my expectations were high, but the game managed to meet most of them. I loved the story, the characters and the worldbuildung. The relation and it's developtment, between Kratos and his son is really well done and you want to know, how everything will continue. In the world you have many interesting places to visit and the world get's bigger with each act (the idea with the snake is really cool). So there is slways something new to see and explore. The gameplay was not perfect for me, but that's probably, because I'm just not a big fan of the combat system. I couldn't get into it, but since I was carring much for the story than the gameplay, it was not really an issue. I really liked it and look foreward to play Ragnarok. 9/10

About two-thirds of the way through the game I had this thought pop into my head. "I'm not playing a game; I'm having an experience." That’s what it is like when playing this game, an experience. The graphics, the setting, the lore, the gameplay, the set-pieces, the voice acting, the emotions, the story. All fantastic. As a father, I’ve experienced losing a child and the grief that comes with such a loss. At the beginning of the game, I felt every bit of Kratos’ loss. I felt and understood the difficulty to bond with your child during a time of grief; the overwhelming fear that comes over you when you see your kids go down the wrong path; the pride when witnessing their growth. I also felt every bit of Frea’s pain; the compulsive need to protect your child at all costs and the consequences of doing so. Thankfully, these feelings and emotions aren't ignored infavor of action. The story gives the characters plenty of time to fully experience, explore, and process these feelings until their ultimate conclussion. While Kratos and Andreas process their grief, they navigate through beautifully realized worlds and battle interesting and unique monsters. The battles flowed well, and the combat controls were spot on. The fight with the dragon and the various fights with the Stranger are epic in execution and scale. By the end of the game, I felt like an absolute bad ass. Lastly, I have never played any of the previous God of War games and I did not feel lost or that I needed to have played previous installments to understand what was happening in the story. The things I needed to know were shown to me and that is a huge plus. This game is an absolute gem and I can't wait to play Ragnarok whenever it makes it to PC.
