A great game overall, really capturing the spirit and quality of Godzilla Destroy all Monsters. And it literally has Godzilla now. My only major complaint is if you're not playing multiplayer the game can be pretty bland pretty fast. Maybe something more in depth for a story mode, or a campaign mode like War of the Monsters did ages ago.

This is an awesome game. From a 30+ year FPS player, I was hesitant to buy a gamepad, but it absolutely makes this game 1000% more fun to play. It reminds me of the arcade fighting games of the '80s.

I'm honestly torn on this. I love the concept and it's a good throw back to some older kaiju fighting games like King of the Monsters, plus they have DLC available for both Godzilla and Ultraman, who wouldn't like that in a game like this? -Unfortunately, the gameplay is limited and the AI can be very cheap (such as clearly aiming only for the player when it's supposed to be a 4 monster free for all). -Actual gameplay, is in fact similar in style to Super Smash Brothers along with some mini game party modes similar to Super Mario Party. Not a bad idea, except... -...There is no option for adjusting the knock back physics. This isn't Smash Brothers or Brawlhalla, these are supposed to be giant monsters in a city. Seeing them being knocked around like a ping pong ball takes away some of the fun of using giant monsters. Giving them some actual weight would better have the experience. -While the maps are mostly pretty nice and look to be a good size, you're restricted to a just a very small piece of them during a fight. -The non-DLC characters provided in the vanilla game, while a nice variety, are also limited in number, if you discount the skin color options, making you almost needing to get the DLC just to flesh out the numbers. -To add to that, the DLC aren't available to the CPU for any random encounters in the single player modes, like the arcade and endless, they're only just for the player to select from. -There is clearly effort put in to flesh out the background on the vanilla monsters which is always good, even a story mode for them, but it's a bit shallow. -The game has online play, but as something of a niche game, unless you already have someone to play with, you likely won't be seeing many online matches. -Range attacks often ignore cover, even for small tanks. The giant buildings on the maps that require actual effort to destroy are just there to annoy you by blocking your movement only, not attacks. In ending, if you like giant monster fights, this is definitely a fun game to play for short periods, but content is limited for it's full price, especially when most everyone is only going to want it to play with the provided DLC monsters. So for the sake of hoping they'll continue to add more to it, I give it a recommended, but only buy it on sale or at least be sure to try the available demo first.

This is a brawler, a fighting game for a group, from 1-4 players. The menu gives this away the aim of it being a game aimed at groups though, with Couch play being the first option, then online, then story. There's an Arcade mode, where you have three lives to battle each of the other main characters one after another, like the towers in Mortal Kombat and similar games. An onslaught mode where you can play as an individual or team against growing strength of CPU players. Then there are a fair few mayhem modes to play around with, where you can only hurt other monsters with trees or burgers, or the floor is lava (Literally) The 4 single player campaigns are short, probably around 20 rounds in total, and it's all story-board. Each campaign is 5 maps long, and as you go through the campaign, they get a little longer on each map. Still, an hour or two max. I liked the first 3 campaigns, but then it took a nose dive in the last one, rolling out all the tired old manga tropes and just giving up, losing all the fun that it had flowing. All in all it's a fun game, and you can extend that by ranking up your monsters. Each monster rank only gives news skins, artwork and Background music, there are no actual gameplay improvements from it, so it doesn't become unfair like that. For what it is, it's good, fun and the game AI is quite good. Each monsters plays a little differently but they are all decent enough, no outright stinkers that I could see after unlocking them all. If you intend to play this in a group, then go for it, it's worthwhile and fun to play. But for single player, it is going to be limited, so I'd suggest to wait for a sale, if that is how you intend to play it. I've been playing it with my young nephew and he's really having a lot of fun learning the monsters and playing around with them, as am I.
