Not as in-depth as other puzzling metroid-vanias but I thought but its story and 2D physics puzzles were enough to keep me entertained. Its not the greatest game ever made and i noticed some issues playing on steam deck where the game would lag for a split second, sometimes dropping an input or braking some of my character's physics interaction. I had some issues with the puzzles too as sometimes the physics objects didn't land the way they meant to or I had to nudge some objects using the abilities where i probably wasn't intended to just to ensure the next thing i did worked as intended and i didn't have to reset. on the other hand, there were a few puzzles i managed to break and get around in other ways that definitely not intended. However, this didn't really hinder my enjoyment of the game. When you pick up a puzzle game you have to get past the annoying puzzles and focus feel greatful for the rewards and the rewards were pretty good. Note, however, there is another version of this game, GIGA WRECKER alt., which is also available now that extends the content that you might want to check out before purchasing this one.

"Gamefreak made another platformer? And it's 2 bucks? Fuck it, I'll try it." I played through the first boss and into the second stage. Here's what I got. Good: [*]Artwork is pretty; characters generally look good [*]Varying puzzles, most of which are pretty fun to approach [*]Physics are really fun to play with, albeit hard to get right [*]While it's hard to perfect, it's not always necessary. You can finagle it if you try enough. [*]Teleporting option makes backtracking much less painful [*]Enemies don't respawn unless you reset [*]Solid soundtrack [*]Boss fights are enjoyable [*]Fairly challenging, considering it's Gamefreak Not So Good: [*]Translation is pretty bad. You get the gist of it, but it could use a proofread/revision. [*]Sprite work is lazy, some in-game visuals don't look the best [*]Characters don't shine as well because of an awkward translation [*]Story is enough I guess, but the translation doesn't do it any favors [*]The physics may frustrate some [*]Hitting a moving target or a target from a particular angle can be difficult to manage while solving puzzles or avoiding obstacles [*]You're going to reset a lot, YMMV I don't know if it gets better or worse with time, but I'm enjoying it so far. I'm also surprised by the more mature subject matter, considering, again, this is Gamefreak. It's nice to see them do something different. The game's alright. Drill Dozer is a more solid all-around, but this is still cool. You could easily do worse. It is a damn shame that the updated content won't be included in this version, though. I don't think I'm likely to repurchase this on the Switch.

I've recommended this game, but I want to stress that if you're probably going to want to get Giga Wrecker Alt. on consoles instead of this version. While it's a graphical downgrade playing on a console, the port appears to be a superior product overall. Better translation, a second playable character, an additional ending just make Alt. a better choice. If you don't mind some engrish, or you care about the graphics, then this version is fine, but maybe wait until it's on sale. Otherwise, the game itself is pretty fun. Robots have taken over the world, driving humans to near extinction. You play as a girl turned into a cyborg who is determined to fight for humanity. You're also attempting to find out why a mysterious girl thinks you're going to doom mankind, which she believes is worth killing you over. Don't get confused though, it's very much a puzzle platformer, with occasional combat. The designs of the characters are pretty great, and visually it's firing on all cylinders. It's just a pity about the version differences.

It is almost a puzzle game with map navigation like metroidvania, the enemies exist for puzzle, every skills and moves exists for puzzles. And aside from boss fights, you exist to solve puzzle room by room. It was very mid, not great nor bad enough to be a thumb down. It feels like GameFreaks has some artist or developer to spare and decide to make a quick B-grade game. If you are puzzle enjoyer, (specifically physics-based puzzle) this probably be a good pick, else it got bored after several hours. The first boss fight almost turn me off the game due to lack of instruction on how to counter the boss, (parry boss' sword mid air) such mechanic never appear before or taught in stage, and it is exclusive to this boss that you had to figure it out yourself or lose several times for NPC to give you a hint. The later bosses are less frustrating and easier to follow somehow.
