Randomly stumbled across this game, looked at a few photos and decided it was interesting enough to buy. I jumped the gun on it, I never even read the description or saw the trailer! Having just finished the game I will admit I enjoyed it all the way through. The intro caught my attention and I needed to see how the story progressed. The setting is neat, the characters were entertaining, the story was great, and the music was unique. It all works together to make a very neat experience. I cannot wait for season 2. If you're on the fence with this one, I would highly suggest getting it. I have no regrets with this game, they did a good job.

Holy shit. Never thought randomly browsing through the anime tag on steam could just result in finding peak but here we are. Don't usually do reviews, but this project is damn special. I really don't wanna do any spoilers, all I an say, is I can't wait for season 2

It's been a while since i've binged a visual novel like i did Ghostpia. The game's biggest strengths are its unique setting, well executed tone shifts and abundance of CG illustrations. It takes place in a mysterious city where every resident is seemingly immortal, including Sayoko, our reclusive protagonist who, along with her two only friends, are trying to make sense of their situation while also living they day-to-day lives. The first episode involves the arrival of a new resident in the town, which was previously thought to be impossible. Each of the following 4 episodes focus on a specific character or subplot while also spoon feeding the player bits of information about the overarching narrative. The story is very engaging and the pacing is great, there are moments of great tension which end in utter goofiness and vice versa, so it's hard to ever get bored. Though Ghostpia is definitely a Visual Novel, there's so many cut in illustrations, animated CGs and other interesting visuals that things never get monotonous. The game's artstyle goes for minimal, cutesy character art with cozy environments which nevertheless fit the more serious scenes quite well. I also applaud the game's writing: everything is perceived through Sayoko's observations and thought processes, and as a result you really grow to understand her character and its nuances. The game has a lot of scenes that felt very real in their introspectiveness and emotional weight, without ever feeling overly sentimental or dramatic. If you like Visual Novels, i can't recommend Ghostpia enough. And if you don't, i think this just might be the game that changes your mind.

ghostpia is a visual novel with great story, great characters, great art, amazing OST, a girl you keep bullying for no reason at all, a girl that tells you how an AK47 is cuter on you than a maid outfit, and a ninja girl. The number of explosions in the story is a direct reference to just how much of a blast this VN is. 10/10 would highly recommend.
