Recommended but ONLY if its on a decent discount and if you have never played Wildlands. In Breakpoint, like in almost any Ghost Recon game, you play as an elite soldier and need to twart some overly complex "the world is in danger" conspiracy. This time on a fictional island called Auroa that is littered with futuristic tech. As said, the plot is overly complex, makes little sense but kinda fits this type of game I guess. As long as you follow the major lines, you will be fine. Any other dialogue can be skipped without hesitation. Auroa is - like most Ubisoft open-worlds - absolutely massive. Its a big island (with some extra loose islands) and a lot of verticality in terms of mountains. You can traverse land, water and air in a load of different vehicles; your best friends becoming a Trail bike and a helicopter. You can buy dozens of other vehicles with the ingame currency but honestly don't bother as most they are inferior to the Trail bike anyway. Things like an APC or a jeep with 4 miniguns are occasionally fun though. Of course you can also fast travel to any of the numerous 'bivouacs' across the map, which you can also use to change class, buy weapons and equipment or spawn vehicles (if you have that enabled). The map is spread thick with locations, some small, some large and sometimes entire villages or communities. Most locations have civilians, so it does not feel like a 'dead world'. Many locations also means many collectibles such as weapons and attachments but also treasure maps or intel pieces with some story background. I am the type of guy that typically tries to do everything or visit every location - I 100%-th all Assassins Creeds for example - but for this one I had to call quits early on as there are just to many locations. And near the end most locations only offer credits anyway. Gameplay-wise this game has 2 types to play in, Original or Immersive. As most Steam guides will tell you as well, Immersive is the way to go. Original is a Division-like type of looter shooter with gear levels and Immersive is essentially Wildlands. Guns still have different stats, but you typically will not switch a lot. There is a ton of other options to tweak the gameplay experience - called Ghost Experience - and there are some excellent guides to help you set it up as it can be confusing in the beginning. Aside from an array of weaponry you also have 4 classes available to you, 3 extra if you own Gold or Ultimate. Definitely play around with them and level them up, level 10 is doable without diving into raids. Echelon or Medic are probably the most useful, but they all have their unique fun thing. Only Sharpshooter (its 'ultimate' is bullets that you do not need) and Panther (its a light versionf of Echelon) fall short a bit. Confusing is also the correct term when you first start playing this game. Once you are through the prologue and in Erewhon everything is thrown at you all at once, especially if you own the Gold or Ultimate editions. Missions for all 3 episodes show up together with side quests, raids, collectibles, event triggers and the Motherland DLC that is constantly in the map asking to be activated. Luckily everything is color-coded so you can sort of keep track on what is what. In short, the order for the missions is: - Episode 1, the base game -- If you unlock the mission Brother vs Brother its advised to save it till the last mission of Episode 1 (Checkmate) as the game gets confused if you do it earlier - Faction story missions (green), these are about 12 Homesteader and Outcast missions - Episode 2, this is with Sam Fisher - Enable the 'Resistance' event, this triggers rebel activity in the open world - Episode 3 to finish the main story - I would finish up orange missions (side quests) by now, but you can do them anywhere in between - Blue missions are guns and attachments, do them when you feel like it. I advise keeping Behemoths till you have some experience with the game, but the 4-AC will be your best friend as it will tear through one in about 2 clips. Then the remaining DLC's: - Amber Sky event, this puts some poison clouds on the map and is a R6 tie-in thats 9 missions long - Motherland, this is the final event/DLC and is the biggest and takes place after the main story I did Motherland and Amber Sky in reverse order and I can tell you Amber Sky becomes infinitely easier due to some rewards you get from Motherland, so thats also an option. There are also purple missions, known as raids. There are some 'light' missions you can do solo on Golem island but most of that content is locked behing actual raids, for which you need 3 other real people. So unless you have those, you will not be able to finish every mission or get every piece of gear, which is a little bit annoying. Visually things still look solid, considering its a 5-year old game by now. Most surroundings look really pretty, enemy textures lack a bit but you won't be looking much at those anyway. The game also runs smooth on my PC (5800X3D with a 2070S). All in all I would recommend it. The community in general agrees that since it looks so much like Wildlands since they added Immersive mode, you are better of playing Wildlands but that does not make this a bad game. So unless you extensively played Wildlands, go for it. Value for money is something you definitely get, as it took me about 90 hours to finish everything including the DLC's, so there are worse deals to be made.
