As far as a roguelite goes, this one is good. In 6 hours of gameplay, I did have one random fatal error game crash; read on the forums that people are getting all sorts of errors but I only had the one. The music is good. The scenery and art is beautiful. The weapon options are great. It's a fun game and there is definitely replayability with harder difficulties if that's your sort of thing. As for me, I would probably prefer something like Dead Cells for replayability. My only real con, other than how short the main game ended up being for me on normal mode, was that the game doesn't really do a good job teaching you how things work. The systems are fairly complex. You get blue spirits and can upgrade your health, etc. but the game doesn't explain the buttons to push or how to do it. You get a power boost the longer you go without getting hit. Etc. Overall, definitely worth getting and playing though. Ideally, as I always say, wait to buy it on sale. 6 hours to beat the normal mode didn't make the cost per hour played worth it, so it would only make sense on sale or if you are going to push for the harder difficulties and get that replay value.

If you love feudal japan, excellent hack and slash combat, and gorgeous looking platformers with roguelike elements, GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is a must buy. You play as Fuuma, a samurai of the Getsu warrior clan on his quest to eradicate the demons of hell before they overrun the surface world. The combat is much more intricate than it appears. With multiple weapons like a katana, chain, gauntlets, spears, clubs, bows, bombs, kunai, and many more, you have more than enough tools to take down hell's demons. There's also a Break system where you can stun an enemy and execute them in stylish fashion while also granting you better loot. Attack enough enemies without taking damage to activate a demon form that gives you more speed and power. Like other reviews have said the game does start a bit slow. Fuuma doesn't have much HP early on and your initial weapons are on the weak side but it only takes a couple runs before you start to get real powerful real fast. Dying does send you back to home with all your items lost but an upgrade can help you recover some of it. There's a second playable character, Renge the kunoichi. She has less HP than Fuuma but is much faster. With all the different weapon combinations and randomized level layouts, no two runs feel the same even though you have been in these locations before. The boss attacks are very well telegraphed and with proper usage of the dodge roll you can overcome almost any boss even with a "bad" load out. If I had any negatives about this game it would be the wasted potential. Konami teased two more playable characters and stages but unfortunately the game didn't live up to their expectations and updates ceased. This also shows in the ending which teases something bigger. The game doesn't have much of a story to begin with but even the current ending leaves a lot to be desired. Don't let all this stop you, Undying Moon is a fantastic game and even in it's "unfinished" state there's more than enough to enjoy. Get it!

now before i begin ive heard people call it grindy ive heard people call it incomplete i beat the game in a short amount of time, at first i had trouble as had no idea how to use the blue skill souls main/sub/health/item which are a big key to growth during runs as you gain more special souls it switches to the next option after i figured this out ive yet to lose again due to higher health before that id make it past boss 1 and 2 and that was it 3rd boss i tried once before i learned how to switch stat boosts which help greatly my weapon of choice was the duel blades as well as the booster sub items which help greatly as well for being great at multi hitting with its second attack the bosses are pretty fun to fight each stage will have you exploring for awhile some have different mechanics to progress some stages or after stages have split paths some requiring an key to unlock each, some just being a different boss overall its an amazing game ive beat a few times so far still working on unlocking everything and maximizing my weapons and items as well as the skills your able to upgrade included is various diagrams sometimes you may find unlocking more weapons and sub items as well as skills for them or for the spirit skills the artwork is another amazing thing :3 this was an before bed review and may be adjusted further later on please note deluxe includes the classic game as well as artwork and soundtrack
