πŸ‘Ί It's obvious that Konami revived the old IP to use it in a currently popular genre. The budget was clearly modest, but the devs were able to squeeze the most out of it. The game is beautiful, but hellishly small. With an approach like this, this would be better off being a metroidvania (like the original). The mechanics take some getting used to, but then it becomes quite fun. The weapons are really different in use, with significant variability depending on personal preferences. The design of everything is awesome, especially the bosses (literally old paintings come to life). However, the locations quickly become dull; this lacks variability in the structure. This definitely needs content updates, which won't happen. There are complaints about the effects overload on the screen, but didn't notice this. The difficulty is quite casual, if you don’t take the higher ones, with β€œsponge” enemies. Don’t expect much and you’ll get 10h of nice experience, counting a few grind trips, but even a couple of hours more and you’ll unlock almost everything available.

Fun game and it looks really nice. There could have been a few more levels. You have to more or less just farm the same few levels over and over. I wish there were more characters also. After getting the second character, I was looking forward to finding others to play as, but it never happened.

very nice roguelite. once the game mechanic is clear (i suggest watching/reading about it, esp. the soul devour system), the game is not too hard. control seem floaty, but it fits the gameplay so no issue. story is very lacking tho... but great art style !

This game is very underrated. It's a roguelike game which means if you die you start over. BUT, don't let that scare you. It took me about 40 minutes to clear the game from start to finish after my character's health and skills were upgraded. Weapons you unlock are kept, as are health upgrades, skills, etc., and each run sees you upgrading your preferred weapon for that run-through. Bosses are not terribly difficult and all in all, this game is very fun and keeps you coming back for more. The weapons are diverse, gorgeous, and very varied in playstyle. Some bits of advice: - Upgrade health and potions FIRST -- max these out - very helpful to train the skill that lets you start a stage with 5k/10k coins -- critical for upgrading your chosen weapon quickly - This game is all about amping and juicing your weapon via the upgrade dolls (you will know what they are when you play) from stage 1 down to the boss - master that and you will rip through the game. Go ahead and get it on sale, it's smooth, violent, and an absolute blast to play.
