Excellent story that draws you in, and the game mechanics have some good hooks. Elements of the story are tropes, but it still works well. The only issue I ran across several times is a glitch that occurs when you are outside on certain levels. If you are off the beaten path, Cole can get physically stuck. Sometimes you can break free, but most times it requires you to restart at your last checkpoint. Overall, I give this an 8/10.
8/10 - A brilliant psychological thriller held back by clunky mechanics. Visually, Get Even pushes its tech to the absolute limit. It is arguably the best-looking game ever built on Unreal Engine 3, delivering incredibly sharp, photogrammetry-driven environments and an outstanding atmosphere. The narrative is where the experience truly shines. It weaves a highly complex, multi-layered memory excursion into a fantastic mystery, yet it manages to present the twisting plot in a way that remains perfectly understandable and gripping right up to the final reveal. The biggest drawback is the actual gameplay. Both the gunplay and the stealth mechanics are stiff, clunky, and genuinely terrible. Ironically, the game's core narrative actually discourages you from engaging in combat anyway, which somewhat masks how poor the shooting feels. Play this strictly for the exceptional storytelling and audio design, not for the action.
Interesting story and fairly original game mechanics. Could have used some more polishing, as neither the sneaking nor the gunplay feels very satisfying. Special mention for the crossbow that alerts enemies as if you were firing a RPG. Good game nonetheless at this price point.
