An excellent story, with an absolutely stunning score, that's unfortunately marred by awkward controls and gameplay mechanics. I definitely think more people should give this game a try, though. This is one that will stick with me for a long time.

Story and environment are really good, gameplay kinda sucks though. Pick it up on sale if you're going to play it.

I do recommend this game, but with a caveat. Get Even is a movie-game, and the game part is bad. I really wanted to like it but that's an unavoidable fact. As for the "movie part," without getting into spoilers, the main story is one of corporate espionage/sabotage and kidnapping. Incidentally, it takes place in a condemned asylum inhabited by haunted manikins and homicidal patients. In the latter half, it becomes a family melodrama. It's an ambitious premise that can only be told through a video game, which is why I disagree with the people who say it should have been a novel or series.

I'm going to recommend this, but I ended up not enjoying it by the end. This game is equal parts: cool visuals, light horror, fun story, terrible stealth sections, and lackluster gun-play. I enjoyed it at the start, really wrapping myself up in the mystery and cool visuals, but the further you go, the more the unpolished parts of the game stick out more and more. Around the time you get to the third "stealth" section, the "stealth" game-play this game puts forth loses pretty much all its fun. With strange enemy detection capabilities, and sometimes almost zero chance to actually go undetected (which is the pinnacle of doing stealth game-play in the first place) I bashed my head against the wall several times trying to wrap my head around the developers choices here. It seemed like once past the halfway point, the lore sections are just handheld museum pieces(stand there and listen to this, now move over here and listen to this, etc.) and all the cool things your character is capable of (tech-wise) doesn't matter. This all sounds pretty bad, but the GOOD things in this game ARE really good. Someone who doesn't know what good stealth is or care about tight gun-play will probably enjoy this just fine, but I've been gaming since OG Mario and have seen half-realized game design so many times that I can't ignore it anymore. I will stand by my view I had when I finished this for a Let's Play on my channel...... This is an okay game (just okay), but it would have made a far better TV show (or any other streaming style show) It has all the hallmarks of a cool miniseries/movie and not so much fun gaming.

This game is a prime example that sometimes more is less and that you need to polish elements of gameplay to some level if they are to work. Story. I liked. It was solid thriller/mystery story with few plot twist, which was easly to guess in first two hours of gameplay, if you pay enough atention. Nevertheless more important than a plot was how story was show to player. I like when stories have non chronological plotline and are convoluted. Simple things are boring, its better when you have puzzle-like event that you need to figure out on you own. I also like that there is no good ending. The dead stay dead, traumatized need to live on, bittersweet closure dont give characters peace and satisfaction. But the gameplay, oh the gameplay! It was terrible. This game is trying to be three genres at the same time, but fails in every aspect due to not being polished. It try to be walking simulator, but environment is boring and repetitive - just norrow corridor in destroyed buldings, all the same. You just go from room to room, collect notes and listen to dialogues. There is nothing to watch or admire, like for example island in Dear Esther. Game try to be stealth, but also fails. There is no indicator how well you are hidden. Enemies can spot you almost instantly, you cant distract them, you cant do a non-leathal takedowns. Level are to small and narrow, there is no alternate path to goals. And there are some level take place in middle of the day, when you are clearly visible. So you just go for trail and error route, hoping for the best, which is especialy frustraiting if you want to collect notes, because THEY RESET EVERY TIME WHEN YOU RESTART CHECKPOINT. So, for example you start level, collect three piece of newspaper, listen to unskippable dialouge, get spotted by enemy, get killed and you restard to do this again. Did I mention you need to be stealthy to get good ending? Game also fails to be a shooter. First, there is a lot of jank. You move slow, you are clunky and weapons feels more like BB gun than real guns. Enemies always know when you are when they are alerted and have pin point accuracy. In level "The offering" there is large outdoor area with lots of vegetation. I was shoot almost instantly by enemies hidden behing three, bushes and rocks at the same. with only few pixels of visibility. And they have a pistols! I was down half a second after they spot me. From fifty meters! NICE. Yeah, you have this funny toy called corner gun but if you want a good ending, you CANT KILL ENEMIES. Last thing - technicality. Games use unreal 4. This means it runs like dogshit. In every bigger area my frames was dropping to 30 or even 20. Yeah, i have old rig, by my graphic card was relased in the same year that this game was, so atleast it should run stable. And of course, FOV. Why, for the love of god, in every unreal engine game there is no fov slider? Every time i need to go to confing files and change it manualy. And guess what? Running fov cannot be changed, and its like 50 degrees? I was feeling dizzy every time when i need spring in this game. When devs understand that players cannot play their games if they have a headache or motion sickness? My eyes hurts when game have lover thatn 90 FOV. Why do this? You like tortute us? One more thing - someone have this brilliant idea of not having jump in this game. So you can be stuck on every rock, every twig or log laying on the ground. I was permamently stuck between to stones in one level, to the point that i need restart from checkpoint. SPACE to jump, you know what it is?
