I don't write reviews all that often, but I wanted to tell everyone how much I love the Geneforge games. I am glad Spiderweb is still around, and I am thrilled that these classic titles are getting some updates. I hope that there will be more of them released soon.

Turn-based point-and-click RPG where you summon monsters to help you fight. There are multiple factions in the game, so some of your choices have a huge impact on the game. It's a classic.

It feels like a 90's game that released early 2000's. It's fun exploring its massive world. I feel like Geneforge's biggest selling point is its accessibility and size. I like the story-telling which doesn't overdo the amount of reading dialogue (Like many better games of its type). The combat and the UI is very straightforward too, making it easy to dive into. You will be save-scumming your way through it, it's that kind of game. The game suffers from a fatal flaw: The biggest issue I had was that to replenish your health and mana there is no rest option. Instead you need to backtrack to a healing and mana pool, then run all the way back again. I must've ran back well over a hundred times; it's an annoying chore that cuts your exploration short all the time. This is the biggest issue with the game and will likely cause many to stop playing and not finish it. The other issue I have is that the combat isn't terribly varied or interesting, nor did it evolve much through the course of the game. You are a mage with some spells and can summon a bunch of familiars. It sounds interesting and full of potential and perhaps with a few interesting AE spells and a better system to recover your mana it could have been better. It's difficult to recommend this to many people when there are other brilliant older RPG games like EverQuest, Might & Magic 6-8, the criminally underrated Lands of Lore 3, Daggerfall or new ones like Lords of Xulima. I give it a C, which means it was fun but close to being a 'take it or leave it' kind of experience.

Amazing story and lore, the games combat mechanics may be a bit old but they hold up better then you would think, and its wrapped up in a 53 hour long campaign. I highly recommend this game to any rpg fan but especially to those who enjoy the original fallout games or underrail. I loved the lore and worldbuilding, the shaping mechanics were really cool and im awestruck at this mechanic in such an old game. The game can defiantly be esoteric with its directions and lack of a proper wiki. Final review YOU SHOULD GIVE IT A TRY SERVILE

Relaxing turn based RPG with lots of places to explore and quests to complete. The game is so well designed that it is almost too easy to navigate, engage in combat, level up, and keep track of any quests you need to complete. It saves progress automatically but you can still save often as you feel you need to so that getting involved in a fight too advanced for your character doesn't totally ruin your game progress. I really enjoy Spider Web games. Interesting stories with numerous factions and cultures to side with or not depending upon your chosen character's own personality, interests and beliefs.
