Man I really slept on this game. I've had it for so long but only played it once. Originally I didn't care for the art style, especially the cute comic relief races, but after picking it up again and taking a swing at the game I've fallen in love. The game has a lot of charm and humorous texts, but what I really enjoy is the planetary management and exploration. The diplomacy also seems to be enjoyable, though I haven't played it long enough to figure out how to cheese the AI races (if you can that is). Overall, I'm enjoying my time with it.

A mix of Master Of Orion and Space Empires. Presentation (UI, etc) is pretty basic, but gameplay is good. However, another 4x space game that does not have any meaningful combat. It's just rock paper scissors with beams, missiles and kinetics. Not much to it. Personally, I think it would have been one of the best 4x space games if the combat aspect would have been more fleshed out. That's the only thing missing from the gameplay feature side. Everything else is there.

OK, it is difficult for me to judge this game. There are many things to talk about. First, there are many races with different tech trees, abilities, and traits. This allows a lot of replayability. You can play your custom race with your chosen tech tree, abilities, and traits as well. The tech tree for each race is very vast so you have to understand the game to choose a proper tech to advance. There are four subtrees, namely colonization, engineering, warfare, and government. Warfare is also very interesting. It is based on rock, paper, and scissors. You basically have the beam, missile, and kinetic weapons and corresponding defense for each, namely shield, point defense, and armor. You have to adapt your ship design based on the ship design of other races. There are many ship classes that you have to research. There are many winning conditions. The game is simply very very complex so you need some patience to beat the game. So if you are willing to spend time mastering all the complexity that this game offers then this game is for you you will be rewarded greatly. If you think you are the right guy or gal then don't wait, buy the game and get lost in this huge puzzle 4x strategy game!

Oh my gosh! I LOVE this game! Now, I've always been a BIG fan of 4X games; games like this, Civ 1-6, Stellaris, there's so many, but Galactic Civ has been a favorite... right up there with Civ 1-6. There's SO many aspects of this game that are super awesome. Let me see if I can highlight a few. Mods. I'm a BIG believer that games that allow mods are 1000x better. I love mods. I have a ridiculous amount of games that allow mods. Lol. Mods allow you to customize the game in a lot of different ways and this game is no different. Gal Civ 3 mods basically cover custom civs and custom ships/ship styles. There's a boat load of each. You can literally have the Galactic Empire as a custom civ... or the Federation, along with a full load of custom ships that someone uploaded. The choices are virtually endless. A+. Civilization Creator. Gal Civ 3 allows you to create your own custom civ even if you don't have any mods. Every last detail is up to you. Do you want to be an evil civilization? Do you want to modify an existing civ or just start from scratch? You can also mix n match civs if you want. You can have the main profile of civ A, but have the ship style of civ B. They leave EVERYTHING up to you. It's a great feature. Another A+. Ship Creator. In every game, whether you use a pre-built civ or one of your own, you'll get the use of a Ship Creator. This tool lets you either modify an existing model of ship or come up with a whole new design of your own and use it immediately. I don't often use this tool because I'm usually pretty happy with the ships/ship style I'm using for that game, but some people go crazy and design all kinds of unique and wacky ships, then upload them to the workshop for others to enjoy. The Ship Creator allows you the freedom to customize any ship and any ship design. A+. 4X The Galaxy. For those of you that have had fun with traditional 4X games, Gal Civ 3 actually lets you eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate the galaxy. How amazing is that?! Take a fleet of warships, a troop ship, and go out and conquer the galaxy! Be the first one to eliminate a competing civ. Or if you want to be the friendly, peace-loving sort, then go out and make friends with everyone so that they vote for galactic peace. Personally, I like to trade with the neighbors, then when they're no longer useful, slaughter the infidels. Lol. You can conquer or rule the galaxy however you see fit. Lots of fun and another A+. Those are just some of the aspects of the game I love. I can't think of a negative thing to say about this game. It's one of my all-time favorite forever!
