It surprises me how well this movie based game holds up, considering how the movie was created during a writers strike. STORY: The story is relatively similar to the movie, having a few different plot points as well as starting roughly halfway through the movie's timeline. (Might not be completely accurate) I don't think it's bad by any means, but it's not anything special either. ENEMIES: The game surprisingly features a large variety of enemies, all having unique/creative designs, animations, and ai. It's honestly crazy what they had in store, such as: A hovering fire extinguisher that shoots fire, a paper shredder with ninja star buzz saws, (Had nightmares about that one) a F*****G water cooler, a flying Febreze air freshener, a legged vacuum, an Alienware gaming desktop, A LITTERAL CPU FAN, and a F*****G flying desk lamp... Did I mention that there's more? GAMEPLAY: The game is primarily melee and puzzle focused with somewhat basic combat mechanics, but features a variety of ranged weaponry and a sentient house fly that somehow has an INDUSTRIAL GRADE LAZER capable of damaging Amazon security cameras, pipe bomb alarm clocks, and even flying Manscaped beard shavers. (Awesome concept to "kid" me) The puzzles aren't too hard, but are creative in their own ways. There are two "hamster ball" sections where you get to drive the special vehicles from the movie, playing somewhat like how an arcade shoot em up would play. (These are actually pretty fun and cool!) Sadly, the game doesn't have co-op or a new game+ mode, meaning once you finish the game, you have to delete or change your save. But I will tell you straight up that the soundtrack has NO RIGHT TO HIT AS HARD AS IT DOES! --------------------------------------- At the end of the day, I would say this game is surprisingly good despite it's age and weird origins. Should you buy it? I'd say yes but wait for a sale. (Personally, who the hell is going to buy a game about guinea pigs beating up amazon products... maybe for nostalgia?) MAYBE... you can even send this game as a gift to a friend as a joke, then they will think "this has got to be utter A**!" at first look, then play it for an hour and go "HOLY S**T WHY AM I HAVING FUN!? HOW IS THIS GAME GOOD!?"

Tom Clancy's Devil May Cry: Gerbil Wars - Rise of the Killer Appliances may not have been a game anyone was asking for, but hot damn if it proves to be the one we needed!

DON'T let the premise or the reputation of the OG movie fool you. This has actually decent 3rd-person-shooter GAMEPLAY. They made blasting through industrial facilities & government buildings as a GUINEA PIG with a JETPACK, LASER GUNS, and ELECTRO WHIP genuinely entertaining. From the diverse arsenal of futuristic weaponry, to the catchy BGM riffs, to the secret-agent aesthetic, I find myself revisiting this again and again... I find it really, really replayable, and not just because of nostalgia. I've lost count. Criminally underrated. Don't sleep on it - but wait for it to come on sale first.

This game predicted the future. When I was in my kitchen earlier today, my Samsung smart fridge came to life and fell over onto my 2-year-old daughter, crushing her to death; my wife was, as you can imagine, having a moment, but me? I was laughing because it reminded me of the funny guinea pig movie and game from 2009. Now she blew up in my face about this; I told her to sit the fuck down; she can't understand the complex storytelling that this movie from 2009 predicted smart homes being evil. Anyway, we got a divorce, never liked her anyway. really good game.

This game is unironically good, not even in the "haha funny kids game" way. I actually had quite a bit of fun with this.
