July 2025
Froggy fought for 24hrs to 100% the battle. Froggy is tired. Forreal though, the main game is fun, but hard mode is borderline impossible mode and extremely fustrating, for a game as cute as this, you wouldn't even think it's so hard. Story wise: Apart from that, I wish there was a story to it, like why is Froggy fighting other frogs is it just so they can use the skate loop? Does froggy own the skate loop? Is it a vacation spot, a place Froggy goes to relax after work? I mean, especially for the end of both the regular and hard modes respectfully, I think a cute hand drawn story book slide show would have been great to pair for each level that is beat, or at the beginning, middle, and end fights of the regular and hard modes. Each mode get's nothing as a reward when beaten, except the achievements and unlockables. At the very least I think they should make trading cards for this game so it feels more rewarding once you're done. Gameplay wise: Its one big loop, you can go left or right around the entire circumference, and with an upgrade you can also leap up and down across the entire diameter of the circle. The thing is though.... Froggy never stops moving, you can control which way Froggy goes, and when Froggy jumps, but moving is constant. When attacking enemies, there is a split second (or longer if you spam or multiple enemies are on top of each other) that the entire scene will slow down, that in itself can get buggy or cause Froggy to move in the opposite direction from which you want to move towards new spawned enemies, or away from current enemies. Froggy registers most all controller movements, but I CANNOT tell you how many times I moved my joystick to the right and Froggy continued to the left and vice versa. With the amount of enemies that show up on the screen; especially the latter part of 'Hard Mode' the glitchy, slowmo, and incorrect direction registered can start to feel like wrestling to grab a frog whilst your hands are covered in vegetable oil. I'll be honest when I say I was at the 15hr mark I was ready to give up 100%, and leave a bad review, but I pushed through and many many MANY hours later I was able to do it. The enemies need to be a small bit weaker, yall need to beef up Froggy, or there needs to be less enemy spawns. Don't get me wrong it's a fantasic premise of a rogue-like and it's a cute game, its different and I enjoy different, but after 24hrs of playing what I thought would be a short game, a game that gives you achievements and new weapons, but nothing else past a certain point, toward the end I was just playing outta spite, the fact that I couldn't get one last achievement, and when I finally did 100% there was no congrats, no final scene, not even a change in the title screen. This is a game for hardcore rogue-like enjoyers, people that are up for a hefty challenge that may have a side of clunky mechanics here and there. If you're up for the challenge then definitely check it out; Also please don't let my review dissuade those that are on the fence about getting this game.... for all I know I could just be bad at games like this.

Fun, bite-sized roguelike/survivor game where you play as a frog riding a skateboard around a circle; it reminds me of another small game called Circa Infinity, albeit with a focus on combat, survival, and upgrades. Easy to play some quick rounds, as reaching the last boss doesn't take too long, with some decent upgrade options and playstyles if that's your thing, with some fun-themed upgrades like kickflips that shoot lightning, etc. Just be prepared for quite the challenge; if you want all achievements, hard mode is not messing around.

A very cool Rouge-like that while simple has a lot of charm, a unique gameplay loop, a surprising amount of item variety, and even a hard mode that while unfair at times is quite fun. All of this giving the game a lot of replay value for the price. Also your playing as a frog named Froggy who supports trans rights and hates capitalism whats not to love (⁎˃ᆺ˂)
