I completed 100% of the achievements and really enjoyed the game. The gameplay loop is simple but very addictive: gathering resources, crafting, automating production, and upgrading your equipment. You can easily start playing for a few minutes and suddenly realize you've been playing for hours. Definitely worth picking up on sale. This is what an incremental game needs to be. Yes it has an "end" where upgrades don't matter as much anymore, so any work is just adding a grenade to a mass driver from space, but that's just it. You can go to rediculous levels and dominate the world you're given. I got to lvl 100 in that dungeon to mark it as completed. 30 hours to complete this fun, incremental, top down "fps", terraria x muck, story, puzzle game. It's worth it as it's satisfying.
This took me 56 hours, to 100% the game, and I have some things to point out. First of all, the game is REALLY fun, the bouncy and fun pixel art style is really pleasing and the gameplay is (most of the time) thought out and well done. Plus, the music brings the experience to a next level, it just blends right in, its perfect for this game! On the other hand - and I'll address the elephant in the room, soon - some of this whole '56 hours' has just been me sleeping irl and keeping my game open, when a game REQUIRES you to do that, that's bad design unfortunately, Forager also doesn't have a fully fleshed out endgame, it relies on a LOT of grinding instead of discovering new things, and some bugs and unintentional 'ways to do it' are found EVERYWHERE. Well, now, for the BIG thing: This game is dead. I know, barely people play it anymore and the developer has gone somewhere mysterious and undisclosed, I don't even know if I should write something, since it probably won't be seen anywhere by anyone but me... Because no one visits this game anymore... Anyway, still leaving a positive review, since I loved the progression of the game, from start to about 80% of the way in! It was my childhood favorite and now it gets to be completed at a 100%!
After several years and over 776 hours I have finally 100%ed Forager. I wholeheartedly recommend this game, the rest will be some light reminiscence. I first began playing this game a long time ago, on my Switch (I think). At some point I got it on my tablet and, eventually, a computer. I used to play it a ton and would AFK every night, causing my high playtime, but I never fully finished it. This was due to a lack of dedication. It took me around seven and a half hours once I set to doing it, from my best save file. It is somewhat weird to have it done, but it was very fun. I hope that, someday, Hop Frog returns, as it seems as though he has entirely abandoned the game and social media. Please, Hop Frog, give us more content, I beg you. Also, I used to watch Dangerously Funny play this game, his videos are awesome, go watch them.
