It's pretty good but I ran out of steam on it since there's no markers on the map to indicate newly accessible areas and there's no real intuitive way to tell which way to go. Skill issue maybe, but there's only so many times I'm going to run around in circles looking for the way forward.

Cuphead meets Hollow Knight... If that's what you were expecting when this game caught your eye, sorry, but it didn't happen simply because the game isn't very good. The bosses can be a bit unfair sometimes, but it doesn’t matter since all you have to do is buy enough healing and resurrection before the fight, and they become trivial. The rest of the enemies are quite easy, and the platforming is just not very fun. Most of the skills you gain are useless in combat; I used only 1 or 2 throughout the entire game, except when there was a barrier that required another skill. The art style is great and the story is quite interesting. The map, secrets, backtraking and metroidvania aspects in general, are okay, but the game just falls flat. I still enjoyed it, and I think it was developed mostly by just one guy (amazing job). So it's fine to spend a few hours on it if you get it on discount.

The most enjoyable metroidvania I've laid hands on since the original classics and Metroid Dread. It's not perfect, but there's plenty of exploration and combat to be had, permanent upgrades to find and bosses to fight. Just got 100% achievements and very happy with this game.

This get's a narrow recommendation. Pretty much every aspect of this game is passable except for the graphics which are great. As a slavic game it should not be surprising to anyone that the game's inputs and combat are janky but you get used to it eventually and the exploration becomes quite enjoyable. The game is about as big as Ori 1, I spent between 15-20 hours on this (a lot of the time registered on steam was me being AFK). The dev majored in psychology and it shows, he tries to do what celeste and binding of isaac have done, but this game does it in a way that is a little bit too verbose. Still, I had a good time with it even though I was not able to defeat the final boss (Depression). Although I recommend it, I do believe there are plenty of better metroidvanias you should play before you get to this so put this on your wishlist and wait for a sale.

Metroidvania about fear, depression and phobia. Dark comic-like artstyle. Not perfect, but very good experience. More short reviews for hidden gems at my curator page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44819215-Lesser-Known-Hidden-Gems/
