It was a very good game! This is the first game i've ever completed without help, BUT it was very brain racking, i spent 37 hours on a single playthrough. It's good to just play without thinking. Thanks for reading even though it's small.

Fe is one of the most visually unique games i've ever played and i've played a lot. Most of the time the outlandish art styles are reserved for sidescrollers or top down games but Fe has a gorgeous 3D aesthetic that's well realized. At times it almost feels like a colourfull 3D limbo, which is not something i would have thought i wanted but Fe's artstyle was love at first sight. It is easily the game's strongest feature but don't sleep on the soundtrack either. It works in tandem with the visuals to make an entrancing and captivating magical world ripe for exploring. Exploring in this game felt fun and relaxing but going for 100% is on the harder side given all the nooks and crannies. The central mechanics and themes are nothing we haven't seen before but that doesn't mean they're bad in any way, shape or form. Fe can be a goood comfort game, pallete cleanser or just serve as an escape between all the action games well all play constantly. Worth a purchase despite being published by one of the scummiest companies.

Fe is a pretty solid take on a 3D platformer with metroidvania elements. One comparison that comes to mind is between Fe and the 2D Ori and the Blind Forest (Definitive edition), as both games use a considerable amount of linear metroidvania, comparable price points, and awesome orchestral music. The characters and environments in Fe even look somewhat like those Ori, but the story and game play are drastically different here. Ultimately, this game is pretty good, but Fe feels much more underdeveloped in certain aspects. Like Ori, Fe guides the player to a degree (more than in Ori if you leave map markers on), but there is still a bit of exploration and cool puzzle solving to be done, as well as interesting upgrades that you acquire in a linear progression across a non-linear map. Tree climbing can be neat, yet a little clunky at times; however, there's a way to get pretty consistent climbs to the very top of trees without accidentally jumping off. The need to communicate to animals with different languages throughout the game is a great game loop, and the diversity in how animals behave will keep you engaged. Areas are themed like in Ori, and honestly the environments are cool enough to my liking. Saving/encountering the leaders of the different animal types is actually cool, but things come across as a little rushed in some parts ( especially since the ghost leader encounter happens immediately after helping the big wolf . This said, a lot of moments have been really cool and enjoyable. I didn't attempt 100%, but I am sure it would be interesting to try to find the shards required to do so, and unlock the remaining optional abilities this way. Also like in Ori titles, stealth has its place in the game play, but to a much greater degree than in Ori. However, the stealth part of the game has limited variety ( either hide in bushes from silent ones, lead a deer to kill a silent one, or remove an orb from the tails of brainwashed wolves ). The silent ones are those you hide from in stealth sections. You only encounter two types of enemies from this group, so it feels pretty lazy in terms of stealth variety. The AI of the silent ones is pretty dumb too, since they often lack object permanence and usually forget about you once you jump into a bush. This takes us to the half-baked lore the game offers. You can pick up collectables that give you the perspective of the silent ones. These end up being largely repetitive and uninformative with exception of a few of these. Hence, it might be more worthwhile to skip these items, since they just lead to loss of time for the most part. By the time the ending comes in, you're not left with much sense of why the silent ones did what they did in the first place. Some players have made an effort to make sense of it, and to a degree, it makes some sense, but you're still left with more questions ( if the foxes are the silent ones, and they lost their ability to communicate, why is that? Why the heck do they have mech suits? As a fox cub, why can you communicate from the beginning of the game? . The game ends pretty abruptly and ends up being underwhelming and disappointing ( though I appreciate the chance to save the deer you meet in the beginning of the game ). Do I recommend this? Yes, but I can't say it's quite the quality of platformers like the Ori games (or beloved triple A 3D platformers), as it just feels too empty in some respects. I take similar issue to the buggy 3D game, Blue Fire (which poorly borrows a lot from the 2D masterpiece, Hollow Knight). That said, the only "bug" I had in Fe was some difficulty in getting the game to communicate with my xbox one controller on the title screen, but it was fine otherwise. In my opinion, 3D metroidvania-esque games end up having more quirks than 2D ones, but we still need more devs to try working on games like these, because they can be really enjoyable, and I liked this one quite a bit.

Fe is an enchanting action-adventure game that immerses players in a beautiful, atmospheric world full of mystery and wonder. As a small creature named Fe, you explore a lush forest, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover secrets using unique singing abilities to communicate with other creatures. With no dialogue, the game relies on visuals and sound to tell its story, creating a deeply emotional and immersive experience. Perfect for fans of artistic and exploration-driven games.

This was a really beautiful game that I wish I could experience again like new. I'm surprised it isn't way more popular. Even collecting every crystal didn't become boring because the overall aesthetic of the game is wonderful and there's so many different ways to climb or traverse terrain. Only downside with gameplay for me is that keyboard + mouse felt weirdly off so I swapped to controller, and there's a bug with the overall crystal counts in the swamp/mama bird area, but if you reset your game it corrects itself. I got lost a few times but there's a little bird who guides you across to your next goal if you get stuck, and without spoiling it for the 100%ers, collecting the last few crystals won't be as difficult/frustrating as you think :) FWIW, throttling a game from an indie dev with negative reviews because of the EA launcher is clown behaviour.
