Fatermyth is a great game if you know what you're getting into. This includes: • Interesting, but rarely challenging dice TTRPG gameplay (Every character has a cheese strat- there are few fights that challenge or circumvent it) • A story that splits between seven protagonists. You go through everyone once, then go through 4 of them twice, then go back to the start to finish it off • Said protagonists barely meeting up in their own stories. 5 of those images up there ^ on the page only happen in the last ~4 hours of the game, and this includes the art and gameplay of the protags interacting with each other. • Stiff and passive English translation • You (as a playable character) having to beat and charm a man in combat to have an "intimate" scene with him I really don't think this is a bad game, hence the positive review, but it's certainly rough around the edges. There are still some untranslated "pages" of the story here and there (thankfully you usually don't lose much), and the overall English translation is written in a way I (personally) found severely unengaging and detached. There are exceptions to this- and the game is wonderfully written when it drops this, but it's not very often. I can tell there's a good story here, with every individual protag and overall, but it was hard to connect to. So, in a way, it's kind of a perfect representation of sitting on a boat while a guy tells you why you should care about all of these people. I would best describe this game as a severely railroaded D&D campaign with simpler mechanics. There are choices in this game for sure, but they barely ever matter. If you don't pick what the game wants, it tends to just kill you instantly. There are some situations in which this makes sense, but I got sort of sick of getting fail-states for menial decisions after awhile. The game wants to tell its story, and all you need to do is play the right moves and press the right buttons. My biggest active criticism of the game lies with my last bulletpoint. If you don't want to do that (and you have to play through that incident twice on both sides, same result), I wouldn't recommend the game. That incident becomes the basis of Teal Guy and Fox's (using simpler names for identification) relationship, and their second-half stories are about their blooming romance and fated destiny together. The game likes to call their initial incident passionate impulse, but the fact that Teal Guy had to be charmed and defeated for it to happen is... certainly something. I tried to avoid Fox throughout the entire rest of the game for this, to no avail. Gifting her the skinned corpse of her kin gives me a fail-state, and you can't progress to the last section of the game without grabbing her spirit... I just need my boy Bai Chi to find a better girl...

A real hidden gem. Anyone who is a little bit interested in a good story and simple yet quite unique card battle system should try this game. It has its unique charm not many other game had, and I've played a lot of them. Story is split into different characters and you experience their journey one by one. And each and every one of them are powerful enough to make your heart beat faster. You can feel how much passion went into this small project Just give it a try. If you can enjoy the battle system, you will absolutely love this game

Only just started but all around loving it. The dice as your mana/points per turn is cool as heck and not to hard to pick up on. The translation is good so far. The subtitles cut off a bit on the screen when the pretty white haired man speaks to you, but other than that the game explains the mechs pretty well. You are told you can always go back to settings to find the help/tips again. The art work is so amazing!!!!

Cool gameplay, never seen using dice as stamina before. The story is pretty good so far. It feels a bit like Hand of Fate. Worth a try.

First of all the big question: Is the translation good? Yes it is. The game is simple yet beautiful. Don't be deceived by how it looks like yet another Slay The Spire clone. The gameplay is very different and engaging. The dice system adds randomness, some of which you can mitigate by your skill choices and equipment. The start feels railroady because it is essentially a tutorial baked into the first run don't be alarmed. The story seems good. As explained on the store page it is based on Ancient Chinese mythology/history with the creator's interpretation and imagination thrown in. Gameplay Loop: 1 - On the main map you chose which location to go. This part is linear. 2 - In each location there are story elements, which you access by clicking on their cards. 3 - Each Story Element(which can be a person, a location with people/shops/questgivers, enemy etc...) has its own small story. This part actually is reminiscent of Erannorth Games. 4 - Each Story Element can be solved by making choices, making skill checks, or combat. 5 - After completing a Story Element you gain experience, sometimes you also gain some loot. You gain skill points as you level up. 6 - You can spend these skill points on your character screen to create your own build. My favourite part: You can actually completely change the initial skills, don't like one? Just set it to 0 and regain its point investment. As you spend skill points your passive abilities also get unlocked(Don't be like me and wait 3 levels so that you can buy that +1 dice) Skill Checks: In this game skill checks are done via throwing dice. There are 6 faces on dice: Yin, Yang, Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise. Yang Dices can be used as substitutes for any other dice except Yin. You have 1 chance to match the required dice type to pass the check. Basically Yin is 1, Yang is 6. Yin is normally unusable but the skills that can use Yin are usually very strong. Combat: At the start of combat rounds you roll your dice. Each round you also have 3 reroll options and you can use/lock the dices you like before rerolling. You have all your skills available to you. However to use them you must pay their dice cost. This part is similar to Immortal Way of Life's combat. As you level up(or equip related items) you gain extra dice throws or dices of one type so that tutorial episode dice starvation will soon be going away don't worry. For 5$ this game is a 10/10 buy. Note: The game sometimes feels like it is stuck during the start but after a minute or so the menu appears. They probably forgot adding a loading bar at the very start. Don't let this discourage you. It might also simply a me problem but just writing it here in case someone else encounters it.
