This review is intended for someone who already has 600+ hours in Fallout 4 flat version, and like me watch the TV series and was disappointed over the fact that it wasn't a game. I had been eyeing up Fallout 4 VR for about a year and have read a lot of reviews, only recently got into VR with the PSVR2 and quest 3. My PC can run Starfield at max settings, so a game from 2018 was not going to be a problem and I wanted the quest 3 no matter what. That left Fallout 4 VR, I brought the complete fallout game pack there is available here on Steam. I have played every single Fallout game on release including 1 and 2, which of course means that a lot of them are on CDs, this way I got them all on Steam and Fallout 4 VR and Fallout 76 on top. I have mods in Fallout 4 VR listed here, all from Nexus. AmazingFollowerTweaks Craftable Ammo DLCVR - Fallout 4 VR and DLC standalone bug fixes Easy Hacking PipBoy VR light Salvage Beacons Survival Options Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch - UFO4P Unofficial Fallout 4 VR Fix Vivid Fallout - All in One Fallout 4 VR Optimization Project (all) VR Weapon Overhaul It is not a whole lot and I am not using the script extender. Since I activated them as soon as I was out of the vault, I don't actually know how they help with keeping the game running, in 20 hours of gameplay I have had two crashes, my Fallout 4 flat version I would say easily manager to crash that much as well. Following a guide on reddit I have managed to get the DLC to work as well. short version install flat version of the game launch it, not into actual gameplay, then you need to install the VR version move the DLC files from the flat version. and finally you need to move the text document listing the DLC´s you have installed that should be in your document folder somewhere some flat to VR. A lot of far better guides are already available on this. For me the cage DLC which I have no idea which one is, is missing textures but I never liked that DLC so I don't care. (I figured out the missing textures I needed older versions of the DLC´s Automatron and Wasteland Workshop, they were updated with the April 2024 update for the flat version, I use this guide to get older versions and that worked. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3232095313 had to restart the game twice for it to reload textures, but that bug is gone now. I didn't have to do anything with the installation of my flat version of Fallout 4 just needed those DLC files and the language packs and they download to a different folder then the main game folder with this guide. ) With all the technical stuff out of the way here is the actual review of Fallout 4 VR. Using Steam VR to Steam Link(its wireless) on the quest 3, with an Internet connection and a PC that meets the requirements, the game doesn't just run it flies. I have no graphical issues no stuttering, possibly some of the Mods are helping with that as well especially Fallout 4 VR Optimization Project. But apart from the two times when it crashs for me I have had no issues. Yes the graphic are from 2015 but I knew that going in. For the actual gameplay no this is not the greatest VR game the world has ever seen, shooting stuff is extremely difficult, especially at low levels you really have to aim your gun and time your breathing in reality with the shot, which will then move the gun and you have to do all of this again(isn't that how shooting actually works in reality?) fighting with hand weapons is hilarious, and works far better than it does in the flat version. But when you actually hit with a gun It's really satisfying. Fallout 4 is my favourite game of all time and I've been playing a lot of games over the last 30 years on every single available system, I love its for it's story and especially your followers, they are someone which were not the case with New Vegas and Fallout 3 to nearly the same degree (Just imagine if Charon had been in Fallout 4 instead of Fallout 3) So I will ask you this, Dear reader. Are you ready to have a life-size German Shepherd at your site. Are you ready to scream, cry and fight your way across the Commonwealth one more time. To feel really good about yourself when you nail a shot or throw a hand grenade the correct way without accidentally blowing yourself up again. explain to your friends that your shoulder is hurting from beating things to death with a machete. To fall in love with the game you already love all over again. Because this is without question not a good VR game. What it is Fallout 4 one of the greatest games ever made and which equal we may never see again in VR. And you have never seen it like this and you cannot see VR until you play VR. There is issues. the game is abandoned buy the developers but not entirely by the community. getting to the point where you're playing it is pretty expensive, PC that can run it and the quest 3, are not cheap, but you can use them for several other things and several other games as well. only you know if that would be worth to you. But it is unquestionably Fallout 4 like you have not experienced it, it either this or Fallout 76 if you want to try something different, after watching the TV show;) Warning though you will end up wanting to buy a German Shepherd and call it Dogmeat, you will get disappointed when you take off the headset and you are no longer there.
