Cute game so far! It's clearly trying to pull of a Night in the Woods style game, and it's not bad but not comparable. Pros: - Great art style - Cute characters - Interesting story so far Cons: - Far too much self-dialogue - I find the main character to not be very enjoyable, kind of annoying - Seems to be trying too hard to be charming with dialogue

Firstly, this game has pretty obvious bugs. I played it through twice to finish all the achievements, so on the second play through I could adjust positioning so dialogue wasn't cut off where I had apparently gone too far in my first go, but both plays the game sound cut out (at different points) and eventually the game crashed. There were also some grammatical errors in the dialogue but not enough that I was put off. Despite this, I really loved this game. The art and music were breathtaking. It felt so perfectly "fall," somehow cozy but a bit bleak all at once. I do not work in healthcare, I don't know if I could even play this game if I did because some parts were honestly so emotional to me. Did I love all the mini games? No, but I really enjoyed some and I felt like they did a good job of breaking it up so it was more than just a visual novel. You have to play twice to get every achievement. I don't recommend doing this back to back like I did. Play it, and revisit in the winter, or next fall.

While I'm recommending this game I will say it's with the caveat that it's... not actually a very good game. Do not get me wrong, it's charming, and I loved it, it's just very flawed. With a somewhat disappointing ending, dialogue trees that occasionally negate each other, a world that doesn't really reward you for exploring, and extremely buggy minigames, I highly suggest this game if its on sale. I really hope the dev's fix some of these issues someday ! It would be a stellar game!

Good story and art design However the game aspect leaves more to be desired. I spent too long running around the town trying to find something interesting when there wasn't much. I played the game 100% on the steam deck and I learned quick that some of the mini-games were not designed for it like the bandage wrapping part. After beating the game I went back in with simple mini-games turned on and it still has deck users trying to hit and hold directional and other buttons that's just nearly impossible to do. Playing with a keyboard was the intended way. The mini-games does not affect the story though, so I didn't stress about the C grades I was getting I also noticed that the stethoscope mini-game just doesn't register some of the inputs neither, so be okay with not being able to A grade the harder versions of that mini-game. There were a few other minor bugs like the dance animations not being displayed when hanging out with Karl. I want to emphasize, the draw for Fall of Porcupine is the story, characters, art, and some of the music pieces. Fall of Porcupine is an interesting experience with heartfelt moments. The visuals drew me in and I did feel good about most of my time spent with it. Tips I have are: hold X (or whatever equivalent on the keyboard) to get through speech bubbles instantly instead of having the unfolding type-writer effect; and don't wander around too much in town there isn't much to do—sorry to Frauke and homeless walrus guy and comic book kid; it wasn't that interesting of my time spent, lol. The town center location, Pina, a friend to Finley, and the hospital is where the good stuff happens.
