Ethereal Enigma is definitely my least favourite of Pixel Fade games. The largest issue is that it's rather short. Content feels lacking, and almost half-done in places. I felt like Pixel Fade passed over a lot of potential content they could've added, and it showed. I still think the story was fairly good, and the characters engaging. Pixel Fade's quality did still show through in the artstyle, and writing. If you enjoyed Crystalline or Ace Academy, then you will probably also still like this. For me, there still was enough content and quality shown to be worth a thumbs up, but I would not buy this game full price.

Ethereal Enigma is a great addition to PixelFade's list of visual novels. It is definitely more polished that their previous games, but it did not lose PixelFade's unique humor and charm. Even though it is a basic slice of life novel the story is well presented, and the characters are all well written with well defined yet not overly cliche personalities. The sound track is still nice to listen too and the art style is polished and nice to look at while reading. Best girl is Risa as she is the only one that does not throw made shade at the MC for every little thing. Ethereal Enigma has a ton of different choices you take take for different flavor dialogues, and unlike Crystalline I think the devs did much better at making the important choices concerning the ending route more obvious. Overall it was a great read and I am looking forward to the next game.

Steam Deck Experience: Good Controller controls are a bit jank, but if you stick with the touch screen or use the touch pad as a mouse, it's fine. It's enjoyable for the most part. If you like the other Pixel Fade novels, you'll probably like this one.

A reverse isekai story this time, just as good as Crystalline.

Awesome visual novel. Beware that this is extremely slice of life heavy, so if you were looking for a more engaging plot, you won't find it here. But what is here is a touching story about the daily lives of some very enjoyable characters. Erilynn is also the best girl by far. Kira Buckland did a really good job selling her character, and I hope she works with Pixelfade on their next game as well.
