Really enjoyed playing through the game with a buddy. A fun change of pace, and some really good puzzles. However ... To play additional map packs such as those in the DLCs requires both my friend and I to buy them. That's basically the same price as the core game just for an extra level, regardless of how long that takes (hint an hour). If they'd done the EA thing where one person buys and can host for mates, then I'd have no qualms.

When my friend first recommended Escape Simulator, I wasn’t sure if I’d like it (I mean, I love puzzle games, but there are so many games in this genre, which are just not good, so I'm very careful when buying a puzzle game). The graphics seemed a bit simple, and I wasn’t sure how good the puzzles would be. But after playing it, I was completely hooked! The game turned out to be so much better than I expected, and I ended up loving every moment of it. Plus, the developers keep adding new content (both free and paid), which makes it even better over time. The game is all about solving puzzles to escape from different themed rooms, like ancient tombs or space stations. It’s fun to play alone, but playing with a friend makes it even more exciting. The controls are easy, and I loved how interactive everything is—you can move objects, open drawers, and find hidden clues. There are also optional challenges (like finding all tokens within a level, or beating the specific time), which you can either try to complete in your first run, or replay levels later. What really surprised me was how creative and well-designed the puzzles are. Some were easier, but others really made me think. There’s also a room editor where you can create your own levels or try out ones made by other players, which is a great way to keep the game fresh (but I have to warn you, most of custom levels are not good, some are even broken. So don't expect the quality of developer-made levels). If you enjoy escape rooms or puzzle games, I highly recommend giving this a try. It’s fun, surprising, and keeps getting better with updates. What I liked: Fun and creative puzzles, great co-op mode, and lots of replay value with user-created levels. What could be better: A few puzzles felt a bit repetitive.

This is how you play: ( I highly recommend playing in VR ) 1. Invite your friends 2. Start a room 3. Watch the room get wrecked 4. Spend 10 minutes cleaning up the mess 5. Discover the missing piece in your friend's inventory 6. Solve the room after the time is up 10/10 Would escape from my friends again

This is the best escape room puzzle game there is. Just on its own, the base game contains 20 high-quality rooms. Clues are clearly marked, all the objects and scenery look nice, puzzles are clever and sometimes mark what to pay attention to to solve the puzzle (which is nice to not have to guess). That's value right there (maybe not $20 of value but they don't stop there). Then, they've added a whole bunch more rooms over time (some free straight into the game, some free DLC, some paid DLC). These are all just as good, if not better, than the base game rooms. More value. But one of the most valuable points is the Community rooms. Any level-based game gets a huge value boost with user-made content. Some of these rooms are better than others, but there's still many tens or hundreds of high quality rooms for many hours of extra free content. And it's got multiplayer. My friend and I spend all our playtime together doing tons of rooms. We've gone through all the developer rooms and many tens of community rooms. We regularly play DLC and extra rooms on the day they come out. Their netcode isn't great sometimes, but it's usually not an issue. Adding everything up, Escape Simulator has a really high hour-per-dollar rate, and I've had a lot of fun in those hours.

My Experience Escape Simulator is quite good, although I wouldn't say it reaches the heights of Escape Academy , which has an overarching story and more creative puzzles. If you've played any cooperative escape room games, you likely know what you're getting into - closely examining everything in the room, keeping an eye out for patterns (hmm...there are five slots here and five objects of different colors over here), etc. I initially thought that the rooms would be relatively easy, as these are easily the smallest escape rooms I've ever seen in a game. I wondered how developer Pine Studio would even fit any red herrings in these rooms to try and mislead players. While there are indeed few red herrings in the first few rooms you play, the developer does manage to include more in later levels. One funny aspect of the game is the inclusion of a "trash can" in each room. Usually, there is at least one object in a room that can be smashed into pieces (a vase, etc.). Rather than have these pieces clog up the floor, you can instead throw them one by one in the trash can. Not only was this a great way to keep the floor clean, but it's also a nice meditative task to take on while you're waiting for inspiration to strike during a particularly difficult puzzle. Although I found the initial Egyptian levels to be somewhat uninspired, I loved the levels within the "Adrift in Space" set. While the puzzles were certainly more difficult, it was a more intriguing space (pun not intended) to spend time in. If I'm remembering correctly, one of our favorite levels was the Santa-themed holiday level. It was nice to see such polish on what was essentially a random seasonal bonus. If you enjoy cooperative escape rooms, I feel sure you'll enjoy Escape Simulator . There are many rooms available in the base game, and even more can be experienced with community creations or the purchase of DLC. Pick Escape Simulator up, and you too will become fixated on hearing that satisfying chime that plays in the game on puzzle completion.
