Escape Academy is a fun co-op puzzle game that’s great to play with a friend. Some of the puzzles are genuinely challenging, and the 1v1 mode is a nice addition for some friendly competition. However, the game lacks modding support, which limits replayability. The graphics are pretty average, and if you’re looking for a more robust experience, Escape Simulator is definitely the better choice. 7/10.

Excellent Escape Room game overall! The puzzles flow really well. Some are a bit obvious, but most of them do get the noggin going, while not being overly complicated. Obviously a lot more fun if you can play it with a friend. Remote play together is possible, which is a nice option to save some money, but one of the aspect where the game shines is the ability to switch between split screen and full screen if your friend has his own copy of the game. Alternating between exploring in full screen and then sharing information in split screen to open locks etc. was such a refreshing and pleasant dynamic for an Escape Room game, I wish the other games in this genre would adopt this mechanic. The PvP is interesting, but the puzzles are recycled in the different game modes of a specific map, so the novelty quickly wears off. Still, it was a free update so this is a nice addition to the game. A few words on the weak points of the game : [*]Animations and graphics are lazy (but this is forgivable given the genre). [*]Controls are a bit wonky sometimes (the way you need to interact to resolve a few puzzles were poorly thought out). [*]The overarching plot and dialogues are as corny as you can get. It basically reads like a 6th grade homework. It's not a big deal since the main focus is solving puzzles, but still, it looks like an effort was made here, which probably should have been dedicated to making more puzzles or refining them more. Despite these points, the game is very enjoyable, and I would recommend it to every Escapist Enthusiast. It falls on the short side though (5 hours on average to complete the base game), so do get it on sale.

Excellent game ! PROS - The game has a story, so it is really nice because these kind of games usually don't have a story. - Regarding the difficulty, the game isn't hard. Only the last level has the maximum difficult. I don't like when rooms are too hard, so that's why I put this in "pros" but if you like very hard levels, you will find 1 or none. - I prefered these rooms way more than the Escape Simulator ones. I find that they're much more 'alive', whereas in many Escape Simulator rooms (apart from the latest DLC additions) I've had the feeling that they lack life. You're never alone in these rooms : there is always someone who is there or a computer which speaks to you or someone who speaks to you. I also didn't have at all the impression to make random moves (trying to click on random buttons for example) whereas sometimes in Escape Simulator that was the case. I also find the inventory system better than Escape Simulator because it is less complex and you can't drop items. You don't have 10 or 15 items in your inventory as it usually is the case in Escape Simulator. And because you don't drop your items, the rooms stay clean, whereas in Escape Simulator they can quickly become a mess. DRAWBACKS - There are less rooms than in Escape Simulator. - Escape Simulator has a VR mode. That's not the case for this one. - There is no workshop in Escape Academy. - You can't bind your own keybinds. - Graphics settings are too limited. You can't change your FPS limit for example. Everything I said is subject to change if Escape Academy still receives updates !

Rating: ★★★★☆ - Great Time Played: 6 hours (Completed Base Game) Gameplay: - First-person escape room puzzle game cross with visual novel. - Engaging puzzle mechanics that progressively challenge players keep gameplay fresh and prevent monotony. - Some puzzles may require a hint or two, but overall difficulty is well-balanced for a satisfying experience. - There is a timer for each Escape Room that keeps pressure on the player but is quite generous in the time it gives you. Story\Dialogue: - Hogwarts-esk storyline that unfolds through interactive dialogue and in-game cutscenes. - Characters are well-developed with their own personalities and give depth to the puzzles. - Unfortunately is missing full voice acting which would add to the immersion of the story. - Plot twists keep players invested in uncovering the mystery behind the Escape Academy. Graphics: - Visually appealing with detailed environments and character designs. - Graphics contribute to the overall atmosphere and make exploration enjoyable. As you Play: - Make sure to explore each environment thoroughly before starting to solve the puzzles, as hidden clues are essential for progress. - Using Pin in-game for certain items and Notes in the Steam Overlay (or a physical notebook) when working on puzzles is important for Puzzle Solving without having to constantly backtrack.

really well thought out puzzles, great fun for a date night! we love IRL escape rooms so this was perfect for us. Good soundtrack, great storyline too. Honestly one of the best games I've played on steam this year. thank you!
