This is for the base game only, I used no DLC/workshop content. I got 300 hours out it so yeah, I'd say it's good...just know what you're getting yourself into first. This definitely isn't made for everyone, most people will either get bored within the refund window or lose hundreds of hours of their life to it, with little middle ground. You can probably already tell if you'd like this just from the screenshots above (actually, looking at a static image of a menu screen will give you a pretty good idea of what playing the game is actually like). Here's some stuff to know before you buy: Don't go in expecting anything like StS or other popular deckbuilders. EC is about as different from those as a game can be while still sharing roughly the same Steam tags. This game is more like an open-world rpg with cards (think Shandalar) and while you can play it as a roguelike, it isn't recommended until you know what you're doing, which can take a loooong time. If you get hung up on a game's presentation, this isn't for you. Animation is minimal, mostly it's static icons over static backgrounds, both of which are as generic as can be (DLC or mods may improve this). The UI is bland but functional, which is good enough considering the amount of information available at any time (just remember you can alt-click on cards). I can't really say much about the music - it's a podcast game for me - but I sort of remember thinking it sounded okay? It's a theorycrafter's sandbox. EC is great for people that like finding creative ways to turn small numbers into much bigger numbers. There are more race/class/coalition combinations than the number of hairs on a galdorak's tongue, and oh boy I hope you like keywords! There is no overarching storyline. The closest you're going to get is some quests that trigger one or two other quests, even then you're only getting a couple sentences of backstory at the beginning of each (again, DLC may change this). For the most part you're just ****ing around until an endgame quest pops up. It's intimidating at first. Even after hundreds of hours there are still some mechanics I'm not really clear about. It doesn't help that online resources are almost non-existent, because apparently only like like a dozen people have ever played this game. There's no wiki or even a dedicated subreddit, and most of the guides here are about modding. That's why I recommend keeping it bite-sized when starting out, just focus on learning whatever class/race you're currently playing and ignoring everything else. Many of the systems/keywords are class-specific, for example I have used the crafting system only twice, however I never messed around with the Inventor class so I never really needed it for anything. I'll take a moment to shout-out the dev, who is active on the forums and seems like a sincere dude who really loves this stuff.

If you like theory crafting, this game is for you. There's not really a story or any incredibly deep lore, and the fighting will get somewhat repetitive, however if you enjoy figuring out interesting combinations of cards, builds, and challenging yourself to succeed without dying, there will be oodles of fun to be had here.

The game has a steep learning curve. For real. It doesn't really have a tutorial, just an in-game rulebook, so you have to invest. Nonetheless it's worth reading the rulebook and the guide which can be found here on the game's community hub. Also alt+left click on the card explains some keywords, too. Basically (technically more) there are two types of cards: action cards and equipment cards. Each turn, you draw up to 4-7 action cards from your deck (which is fully customisable according to your class) and gain all the activable equipped items (you redraw them every turn). The customisation factor and the opportunities for synergies are awesome and enormous. You can play finite cards per turn, according to your AP and exhaustion points. You can also be helped by ally cards who have some special attacks (special cards) and can attack individually. The enemies intentions are shown (and also explained if you move the cursor on the intention) but enemies change tactics e.g. they are going to be defensive if you had dealt huge damage on them on your turn. You can also change enemies acting orders. Some enemies - especially bosses - can have exceptional resistances, but it can be circumvent with correct deck building or some statuses (like vulnerable or bleeding, intense dmg etc.) which are able to bypass (numerical) resistances. You can do questing on the campaign map moving from cities to villages or ruins. Quests have usually 4-6 encounters ending with a boss fight. You may run away if you die, but save frequently. The narrative is very loose, don't expect some big overarching story here (there are chain quests but nothing special). Character generation is very detailed and like a ttrpg, you had better to start a game with a premade character. Also I find the game incredibly difficult. E.g. the difference between the first two difficulties are huge. Not joking, I do recommend playing some runs on the lowest difficulty before trying the next. I usually bleed out during the early game there where I get overwhelmed quickly by multiple enemies who deal also more damage. Leveling is allocating learning point (increasing stats or skills which can define how strong and which type of cards you can play) and taking define number of perks (can increase stats, make card types stronger or obtain some unique cards). After playing 20 hours, I also noticed a window where you can find and claim the rewards for your achievements and leveling! Don't forget that, some extra LPs can make your life easier. The base game itself has tons of content. Here I some suggestions that could improve the game in my opinion: 1. A tutorial or teaching mode. 2. An online (off-game) wiki and codex for cards. 3. Slower resolutions of enemy turns. I mean it's ok to be fast but everything happens at the same time. Without experience it's hard to follow or reread from the logbook. 4. Somewhat more narrative.

Erannorth Chronicles is a fun game with a lot of options to customize your character. It plays more like a sandbox rpg with slow character progression based around cards than a typical roguelike I think. The presentation is basic but it works and there is a lot of content to experience. Even more with workshop mods. Now you mostly go to an area of your choice, kill all the mobs, get all the treasure, get all the loot, try to survive and slowly build your character up to face greater challenges. Rinse and repeat. It can be as relaxing or as challenging as you want it to be. Now this is only my first impression, but as of now i do recommend this game, thumbs up.

Man what a good game, I will admit I had a feeling about returning this game in the first 2 hours. I played the basic warrior pregen and went on and it went well but it was..... Boring I decided to keep it around and played the base games pre gen angel guy and he was way more fun, but still boring.... I began to wonder if I liked this game at all, 10 hours in and I had some fun but not a huge amount? I was wondering when the fun would begin, then I crafted my own angel like the base games. Mine had a lot of similarities, he was from the holy order and used angel magic and fighting. But this guy leaned also heavily into fire and leadership. I began to collect a group of knights and used my magic to support them. We fought in arenas and were more than happy to burn the wicked at the stake. All was well, our money was overflowing and more and more knights flocked to us. Sir Dwain was an amazing companion to have, his sword never rested and he was constantly buffed by magic to fight the enemies of darkness. Then we went to the 4th arena and we got annihilated. I didnt read an enemy who was counter attacking me plus he had reflect on. Man oh man, 2 actions was all it took, and there I was bloodied on the floor. It was such a fun experience that I knew I wanted another That is how Peyton came to be, a master of the elemental arts he chose fire as his main tool, but is also very proficient in wind and water. Furthermore Peyton serves the bright order, same as Hezekiah before him. He holds true to his ideals and that of his good friend, but he doesnt need help. And he doesnt have time for those around him either, he just wants to see the world burn.... Or freeze.... This game is very good, with the DLC I believe the total card count is well 6k. Man I wish there was more games like this, my only complaint really is that combat is the only way to play. Really wish there was a little more to do like maybe using your other skills to be diplomatic, or whatever (think Thea 2). But all in all if you are looking for a card battler that has a great amount of single player content this one is for you. Be warned, it will take you around 5-10 hours to understand what the heck is going on, its ok take it slow. And also the fun of the game is building a character. Have fun.
