I enjoyed my time better with the second game in the series than Enigmatis 3, but this game is decent. The story starts with an action sequence before flashing back to calmer times. There's been an effort to ground many of the Hidden Object searches more in reality, with searching for fragments and items depicted in art relief, alongside the normal shopping list of random objects. The companion girl is sadly mute and, while story relevant, seems to have less of a distinct personality than the girl in the previous game. The art is great, the quality of life features are good. I'm honestly more of a fan of the Secret Order and the Grim Legends series also from Artifex Mundi, and I recommend diving into those well before the Enigmatis trilogy. That said, if you want to play modern fantasy noir rather than straight up fantasy, you may enjoy this series. The optional collectible morphing objects in this were monochrome and wispy, and for some reason I had far more trouble finding them than those in frankly any other Artifex Mundi game I have played to date. Yet again, the Hidden Objects / Matching Cards test arena in the Extras menu is geared only for practice, not for attempting to claim lost achievements.

I had to wait forever to play this one, but when I did I can say it was a pretty solid ending to a trilogy. Brava.

As I mentioned on my 2nd review, just like movies, the storylines start dwindling as they make more of them without the same love or passion as they did the first. That happened here too. The story felt quite a bit distant from the last game, let alone the one from the first. That gloomy mystery scenario was no longer there and instead it was switched with some very bright, white snowy mountains. The story still has the same end goal which is get to the priest and destroy his evilness but it feels detached from the gloomy mysterious atmosphere prevalent in the previous two. Voice over and animations were much better than the previous two, but the game also came out later, so it had the benefits of better technology. It had "mini games" or mini events from time to time like climbing up a mountain that added a little something to the game play but besides that the puzzles and hidden object scenes were pretty good. Not too hard, not too easy. The point and click elements were also good trying to solve and find items to know where to go or what to do next. Easter egg Her car keys (I believe they were hers) had a key charm with the Artifex logo. The one thing that bummed me out about game play was that the objects that are picked up along the way are not as reusable as they used to be. Very few objects were reusable compared to previous games. It's something small, but that I really enjoyed in previous games. All in all, I recommend the game and the whole series. It does have a full arc and a conclusion that doesn't leave you wanting. I'd say this is probably one of the best series in Artifex Mundi's library. Oh, and remember to play the bonus chapters! A nice conclusion to the series. Even though i liked the parts before more, this part is also very well done.I liked the animations in the second part more but this game is also very well made adnd well made. It was pretty fun and the bonuslevel gave a nice insight of what happend before. Another great artifex mundi game. I can really recommend this game
