An amazing game, and one of the few I've 100% completed. It's a fun 4-ish hour experience, 2 or so if you're fast, with an extra rogue lite mode with a decent chunk of content. Overall took 8 hours to complete, but I still want to play more. The guns all feel fantastic and serve a unique purpose. The levels are crafted in a way where each one feels different, and most are a unique challenge or test skills you've learned from the previous sections. One of the best indie games I've played, an absolute classic. I should also clarify I beat it on Hardcore 1st try, I never played normal.

7.5/10 The rise and enduring success of indie games over the past decade can be attributed not only to the increasing mundanity and formulaic nature of mainstream AAA titles, which has driven many players towards indie games, but also to their innovative gameplay, creativity, willingness to express unique ideas, and exploration of new themes and areas. "Endoparasitic" exemplifies a daring departure from convention by casting players as a man left with only one arm due to a parasitic infection. This wildly inventive and uniquely terrifying survival horror game is a must-play for any indie game enthusiast. Small but complete in every detail, the game's user interface is incredibly creative. Its gameplay and controls are easy to understand yet offer a high ceiling for mastery, truly testing the player's reaction time and mouse positioning skills. The unique manual weapon reloading system, combined with limited resources and visibility, requires players to carefully plan their actions based on limited information. The level design is standard, and although the difficulty increases in the latter half of the game, mastering certain tricks and techniques can lead to a smooth completion. For most indie games, graphics are never the main selling point, but it's undeniable that the scenery in "Endoparasitic" is rather monotonous and far from detailed. While environmental sound effects designed to indicate enemy positions do add a layer of realism and immersion, they also result in almost no background music throughout the game, with music suddenly starting at some levels, creating a stark and eerie contrast. The gameplay design that relies solely on mouse control, along with the high demands on reaction speed, presents a significant learning curve for players who are not as adept with mouse maneuvers. This also leads to fatigue during extended play sessions. Mis-picking ammunition is a frequent issue, and the character's arm direction changing due to narrow environments, although adding realism, often frustrates players due to its odd judgment mechanism. Although the story features some foreshadowing and twists, it's very fragmented, lacking depth, and leaves many unanswered questions, making it hard to say it has a complete narrative. The fleeting novelty of "Endoparasitic‘s" gameplay didn't receive further exploration or development, and the addition of a Roguelike mode could only be described as lackluster, failing to entice players to return after completing the game. However, for indie game enthusiasts, the innovative gameplay design alone is worth the price, and the Roguelike mode can add some enjoyment for those who appreciate this type of gameplay. Another point worth mentioning is that although the game's environment is rather gloomy, it lacks significant horror elements, so players who are not very receptive to horror games need not worry. Yet its unique immersive gameplay mechanics may not suit players with poor mouse positioning skills or slow reaction times. Find my reviews valuable? Endoparasitic is a generally solid isometric survival horror game with a simplistic pixelated style. In this game you play as a cold and calculating scientist who has to make his way through his science base on the moon with one arm. The game's first core mechanic is ensuring that the parasite you are infected with never reaches your brain by constantly injecting yourself with vaccines placed around the facility. The second core mechanic is going into a menu by using the up scroll-wheel, taking out each used bullet from each weapon and reloading them by dragging them into the chamber. In Endoparasitic you earn a nice variety of weapons as you progress from the starting six round revolver to the shotgun to the flairgun and finally to the silent crossbow. Within this game's brief time frame there are also a wide variety of enemy types: mutated rats, slow moving mutated people, the giant 'monkey' boss creatures, the 'corpse traps' that appear dead but kill you with their long arms if you don't move slowly and finally the unkillable hunter creature that teleports and dashes. Within the game's short runtime you also play an unlocking minigame of matching the right length metal bars to open up supply cashes of vaccines and ammo. There are savepoints placed around pretty well and when you enter each new area the game autosaves. There are three general sections to the facility and a solid song plays when entering each. There are also voiced characters that you meet and notes and computer entries to give you game lore. The game ends with a pretty well designed bossfight. Overall Endoparasitic strikes a good balance of survival management and making every bullet count while not making resources too sparse. I'd recommend this game if you can get over the basic graphics and are looking for a well made survival horror experience.

Endoparasitic: A One-Armed Struggle in the Shadows You know what terrifies me? Losing control. Not the zombies we can easily pop in the head, but the ones that manipulate our minds. That fear is what makes Endoparasitic, a recent top-down horror game, downright spine-chilling. Picture this: a research facility, a parasitic outbreak, and you – one-armed and infected. Yeah, it's a jolly ride. What's intriguing is that you control everything with just your mouse. Sounds easy, right? But, with one arm, it's deliberately inconvenient. Want to move? You drag yourself. Reloading? Extract those empty shells one by one. You can't aim and move simultaneously, and guess what? Monsters lurk in every shadow, ready to strike. Add a pesky parasite coursing through your body, slowed only by scarce vaccines. Endoparasitic might seem minimal, but it wrings out every drop of horror from that simplicity. The infection's a ticking time bomb, keeping you on edge, scrambling for meds. It's a constant reminder that any moment, you might morph into those creatures in the dark, a twisted version of yourself. The movement system? It's intentional chaos, battling against your instincts. Developed by Narayan Walters (or miziziziz), Endoparasitic originated from a Ludum Dare game jam. The current version has evolved, but you can still check out the demo for comparison. I'm always super excited to dive back into Endoparasitic even after dropping it, it doesnt really have any replayability but its tense and I always find myself wanting to beat it faster than my last playthrough. Soooo... If you're up for stress and discomfort (in a good way), find it on Steam and itch.io for $9.99. In the shadowy corridors, may your one good arm guide you to survival.
