For a role playing and building game, Empires and Tribes is great.-- once you get through the frustration of figuring it out with lots of trial and error.

Granted I've only played less than 2 hours but the game already feels incomplete, it should be labeled as 'Early Access' Villagers will just walk around in circles which just looks silly, AI definitely needs work (in more ways than just that). Tutorial doesn't cover things it should, like my first play through I froze to death when winter came, I didn't have the ability to make warmer clothes yet, must be a way to survive this (stay inside all winter?). Map view needs tooltips or something so you can use to tell what each building is, I found it to be useless as the building view is much better , at least you can see what each building is as well as make upgrades, assign villagers, etc. I could list more but I'm not going to bother but just know that the game still needs work done to it. I gave it a thumbs up cause it is a good looking game and I like the idea that the Devs were going for. I just hope the Devs don't abandon it already.

This is amazing game! Graphics is nice. This is superb combination of city builder, RPG and settlement manager with first-person view medieval sim. I feel like I'm playing a mix of Medieval Dynasty, The Guild 3, Mount & Blade and Farthest Frontier. I'm just starting and feel depth of game features. I ain't try combat mechanics yet. But I feel it's a great game.

In my humble opinion this is a criminally overlooked game... Is it perfect? Not at all. Is the tutorial good? Not really but its necessary. Are the 'quests' repetitive? Very. Is it a bit clunky? Yes, very. Do the graphics look like Morrowind has been hitting the gym for a few months? Yes. Are the following good points going to be in a weird monologue question/answer format? No. As stated at the beginning, i think this game is criminally underrated and overlooked. I played it for the first time a good few years ago and it was good but very unfinished and borderline unplayable. I then forgot about this game, gave it a second go and im glad i did! Despite it having low play counts and being years old, it still received regular updates and very recently a year road map has been released. There are a lot of features in this game and even more to say about them but i will keep it pretty short. The tutorial is a bit lack lustre but please do not let that put you off (as I did years ago) because its necessary to explain some of the menus and basics of the game. You probably could figure it out but you would be missing out a bit. There is a good selection of historically accurate buildings in the game, mines to smelters to crafters, farms to processing buildings and castles to monasteries. Each can be upgraded a number of stages and in turn provide a variety of improvements financially or militarily etc. The buildings look good and after a few hours you will end up with a very good looking medieval village or town. The player can interact with just about anything the NPCs can. You can manually mine, hunt, chop trees, process the goods, transport the goods, smith and bake and anything else or you can just sit back and wait for the NPCs to do it all for you. You even add building materials to the building, whip out your hammer and started building away. There is a small amount of player customisation available not much else to say on that. There is a level system, which is basic but allows you to level health, fighting skills, gather or mining skills and defence and loads more. You can equip yourself with anything from swords to scythes and leather helmets to full faced iron armour. Plenty of items to wield, craft and sell. There is a decent enough trade and economy system in place. Prices do change and will change on how much you sell or buy. You can either move items and sell directly to a market place, you can order trades in the menu or you can trade with the AI lords with a high enough relationship. Its not a fancy system but it works and adds depth. That leads me on to the diplomacy section. This. again, is simple but effective. You can build up, or down, relationships with the other lords and the King. Good relationships lead to trade agreements and bad ones, well, youre gonna have a bad time. Building up a relationship with the King leads to higher titles and other benefits. You can control this with a menu or with the guildhall scribe character. The menus are simple to navigate mostly and everything can be controlled from the menu for ease or you can run around the buildings individually control it for a more personal experience. All the info you need is available making the 'colony sim' part of the game very easy to control and understand and make little changes when necessary. If you dont keep your people happy they can riot and steal and go on strikes (you can hire people to help prevent this Ye Olde Unions). One of the many ways to keep them happy is to put the people in their 'dream' job. The game does include quests which can come from your residents or directly from the King via his messenger. The quests are simple and not fancy and there is little in terms of variation. The missions from the King consist of pretty much contribute financially for a variety of reasons or provide goods for various reasons. Missions from the residents are mostly, kill this thing, find this thing, catch a thief. There is also court hearings which you can investigate and search for evidence and even provide a guilty vote or veto it and punish the criminal however you see fit. There are council meetings in the game in which you can vote on a good variety of topics, you can even speak to the clerk and suggest the topics to discuss at the next meeting. You can indeed veto all results however, do this too much and the councillors will kick you out of several meetings. The military side of the game is fun albeit rather clunky. I dont have a lot of experience with combat in the game but its always been fun. You can hire soldiers and archers and even upgrade them if you have the correct buildings and resources. You can create army tabs making it easy to control in battle, you can individually control the units for a fine tuning experience and of course you can fight as your character and get your hands dirty with lances, swords or bows. The game has a 'dynasty' feature which it keeps secret. You can date, court and the marry many of the NPCs, this can be done on the fly or in the church. You can have kids as well and as your character ages and eventually dies, you can then select another member of your family to carry on the legacy. A feature they dont advertise but was a good surprise. Well turns out i didn't keep it short ... All in all a great game worth a go, there are many things i haven't mentioned and many things i have yet to discover myself but i just had to leave a review to support this game. Highly recommended.

Although this game looks outdated, gameplaywise it not only clicks with me, it is a hidden gem I was looking for a long time — basically, this is a Guild 2 from first person perspective, with more autonomous and smarter AI, and less need to pause the game to decide something about production. Pacing is good, you and your subjects age with each day, seasons change and bring their own challenges, there's no grind feeling. Walking through your city, visiting Church, visiting council meetings and court hearings, events and quests also fill your time spent in game with proper activities. Balancing the public opinion, levels of production is logical and manageable, even without tutorial it is clear what to do in game. No need in looking through external excel sheets to get your production going (I'm looking at you, Medieval Dynasty). Oh, speaking about dynasty — you can actually have a wedding here, and have children. Well, all and all the game is good. A good mix between Guild 2, Medieval Dynasty, and even first Mount and Blade (but more in terms of village development from first perspective and leading your army, but combat is not that complex). Devs are responsive and still polish bugs and provide fixes - yes, the game has some bugs, but I haven't encountered anything gamebreaking yet, only a bug with audio looping inside some certain buildings, but in next update they promise to fix that too. Thanks for the game, looking forward to seeing more updates, fixes and maybe some DLC!
