6 out of 10 shoulder shrugs Despite the tropes (badass soldier protag, and cute genius kuudere girl) there is a good VN here. The challenge is the pacing and general lack of activity. Characters spend maybe too much time ruminating about their lives, instead of living their lives. Are there are some bright moments? Yes, and I can feel that the developers were really trying. But the story just moves a bit too slowly for me.

They Were Only Two On The Planet; The Last Romance On Earth. From the very first moment you start playing "Eden", you'll realize this is more than just another romance story. It's an experience, a journey and an unforgettable adventure into a world of love, connection, isolation, loneliness, technology, humanity, existentialism, hope and redemption. This visual novel manages to be breathtakingly beautiful, emotionally profound and narratively compelling all at once. Set in a dying world, "Eden" follows Ryou Haruna, a young soldier. His life changes when he meets Sion, a mysterious girl who is in charge of a project wich will save the entire human race from their extinction. Their story will move at a steady pace, letting us enjoy every single scene. Each one of those scenes are both important and impactful. We'll follow them across their journey. We'll discover with them the mysteries about human relationships. We'll find the meaning of life with them. Last but not least, we'll see how true and pure love can bloom even in a dead world. Allow me to talk about one of the strongest aspects of eden: the characters. Ryou and Sion are both such well written characters. Not just them, the rest of the characters as well. The side characters also contribute meaningfully to the narrative. Unlike some visual novels where side characters exist just to fill space, in "Eden" each character has a reason to exist, each character serves a purpose. A great story needs a great soundtrack, and "Eden" absolutely accomplish this. The music is truly beautiful, perfectly capturing the game's melancholic and emotional atmosphere. This soundtrack sets the mood for some of the visual novel most powerful moments. Just to give you an idea, it's the kind of soundtrack that sticks with you long after you've finished the visual novel. More than anything else, "Eden" is an experience. It's the kind of visual novel that makes you reflect about so many things in so many levels. The ending in particular is one of the most beautiful and bittersweet conclusions I've ever seen in a visual novel, despite the fact that "Eden" told us many times that would end up happening sooner or later. A Must Play For VN Fans. If you're looking for a visual novel that goes beyond the typical romance tale and delivers a deeply emotional, thought-provoking experience, then "Eden" is an absolute must play. If you decide to buy and play this visual novel, prepare to cry, smile, laugh and have your heart broken many times. Eden's "Plus Mosaic" Dlc. This +18 Dlc feels like a misstep, one that "Eden" never needed. It feels unnecesary and detracts from what made the game great. This Dlc adds explicit scenes that do little more than break the immersion and cheapen the experience. Not to mention the weird dialogues and explicit scenes. If you want to experience this visual novel the way it was meant to be enjoyed, the original version remains the best choice. The "Plus Mosaic" Dlc is simply not worth it.

第一次玩完中二社这部经典作品,故事虽然不长,但还是让我很感动。画风和音乐也不错。

STORY: Very moving, it is first and foremost an emotional journey, superbly well written and developed, about the protagonist, his relationship with those around him, their background story, and his eventual relationship with the main female character of the story. The novel has strong background side stories and themes, such as genetic engineering, social instability, and interstellar travel, and I feel the story could have expanded on these themes, without detracting from the main story, and that could have helped explain certain elements of the latter better. It certainly leaves plenty of space for a future sequel, focusing in one of the side characters, though. The ending is highly predictable, not helped by the prologue and the full game name which just happen to sum the ending up. ARTWORK: Sprites are stunning and magically well drawn, well posed, and animated to boot. Tons of different CGs available, which are wonderfully and seamlessly well integrated into the flow of the story, and are also animated, to the point many it is hard to differentiate some of them out of a regular scene. SOUND: 32 sound tracks that offer a ton of variety and are wonderfully composed and integrated to the flow of the story. The Japanese voice acting is superb, including the male protagonist, a rather uncommon finding in a sea of VNs that omit the voice acting for the latter. OTHER ISSUES: The main issue with the game is its archaic UI, which works well enough but is not exactly user friendly. Content such as CGs and music are only accessible off-story after its completion, I would have preferred if they were unlocked and immediately accessible as they appeared throughout story. There is a R18 DLC. I do not recommend it though, as it does not integrate well with the main story at all, and just detracts from it, and its moving emotional experience. SUMMARY: Overall, a highly moving, even if predictable, novel, of high quality, and very well priced for the content offered. 9/10
