This is a hard game to describe. It's unique and I love it. Top of line quote: this rules and you should play it if you like 'weird' games. It's a stealth game like MGS, I guess, but not really. The 'enemies' in this game 'learn' from your actions. So if you open an door then they learn how to open doors until the next 'reset'. So it means that you are constantly thinking 'should I do this?' when you are attempting to solve your problems. That is really cool! Realizing that was a hugely cool moment that is hard to repeat. But I feel like the actual game is too long. The idea here is really cool, I love the design, I love the feeling, but by the end of the story I was just thinking 'why can I not just get more cutscenes'. Once you have experienced the cool idea of the echo replication it loses something. There are only so many orbs I can collect before I get bored. I feel like this game should have been maybe 2 hours shorter. I like cool idea story games. I recognize that the devs had a difficult problem of 'length' here but I would have elevated this into the stratosphere of games if it was more concise. I really like this! It's very good. I recommend it and I would play other games that are made by these folks. Kudos. But it's hard to unilaterally recommend because of the slowness in the middle and end.

It has a really slow build start on purpose but it is worth pushing through until the game starts properly. Then this is the closest I have ever experienced to a 1970's Kubrick feeling scifi in video game form. It's worth the price of admission to see what it does. It definitely deserved to be more successful. And an even more polished version could have been critically acclaimed - although the developer did do the concept creative justice. You may have to set a Windows environment variable to get the game to run properly due to some Unreal OpenSSL bug - which is related to why Steam didn't capture all of the hours of my playtime at the time of this review!

You vs You the game. A lot of potential, the art design and world-building (although only barely enough to suit the purpose of the game) are great. Could have been much better though. The stealth is not really that great, the concept is cool but could've been implemented much better. The sound design is great, the collectibles are annoying and not worth it, the levels later on get more and more frustrating due to bullshitery of just increasing the number of collectibles and sticking enemies everywhere. A lot of balance improvements needed to game design as well. The ending could've been better. Should've been better.

An underrated (perhaps misunderstood) marvel. Unique gameplay and atmosphere, tied together in a mysterious high sci-fi story. I guess that it doesn't apply for many tastes, but for those who want something weird and unusual, and especially for those who actually enjoy confusion (in an acceptable dosage). * gameplay: It's a stealth game with a unique twist. I try to describe it vaguely without spoiling too much, since that gameplay is actually part of the story: the game basically reacts to your actions, so it's you, who has to adapt. Some parts of this gameplay are not fully fleshed out though or don't work as I guess the devs had intented. But these not-fully-functional dynamics don't harm the gameplay, you can just ignore it. The ones that do work are a lot of fun, and it's a very organic learning, where with simple rules you'll eventually figure out patterns and use them to your advantage. For a stealth game, I think it has a great balance between calmness and action, and it's designed in a way, where you often barely escape and eventhough you screw up here and there, it's still forgiving. It offers you windows of correction time and time again, making it quite a rollercoaster at times. That's after a more brutual initial learning curve though. It doesn't hold your hands, and doesn't describe much. Which is why I guess it's not so popular. But for those who enjoy challenges and mastering them, it's worth it. Sadly, I even found it too easy later on, even on the hard difficulty. * atmosphere: Gorgeous. Unique. Weird. If you remember the ending of the movie 2001: a space odyssey (with the alien guest room). It's something like this, throughout the whole game! But that may be a bit repetitive and with a lot of visual noise and confusing at times. I guess that might be actually intented and I did like to figure out the mazes myself without a map, but at times, due to the weird but repetitive architecture without landmarks, I found myself confused. Other negative reviews have mentioned that they got bored with the game due to this, and I can understand this. But I think that this is tied into the story and an intented effect by the devs. Just a bit too unusual for many I guess. * story: Mysterious and fragmented. Just how I like it and what I miss a lot in most games. Many games overdo in explaining, but that makes them less mysterious. Here you are thrown into an alien far future with unknown past events forcing your character and her newfound AI companion into a weird journey (also of hinted self-discovery). The backstory is all told through dialogue, which is well written, and with excellent voice acting. The story is delievered to you piece by piece, and you figure it out yourself. But plenty is also left unexplained, which I think just adds to the mystery. And the ending itself can be just somewhat understood. It just gives you a feeling of scratching the surface of something much bigger. The gameplay itself and the atmosphere also do a lot of implicit storytelling and I have some guesses on their hidden meaning. But that's it, guesses. A narrative design which I like the most. It just makes it richer and more organic. * downsides: As hinted, some gameplay mechanics I think are underdeveloped and undertested. I also think that the gameplay and story missed quite some potential of tying them even stronger together. Maybe the devs just ran out of time. It's an indie studio after all with only this game. So I guess there is just real-life constraints. Sadly though. This game misses a few marks of being a masterpiece frankly. But it's okay. I like it a lot nevertheless and it will stay in my memory for sure. conclusion: If you don't mind initial challenges and confusion, If you like weird, mysterious sci fi stories and atmospheres, (especially if you like the movies 2001 and Solaris!), then this game is for you.
