edited 30/11/2024 because this is shaping up to be a stand-out gem in a crowded field. These guys really know how to put a game together, lemme tell ya. [*] The difficulty tuning is near perfect now (done in record time). [*] The build variety is huge, but there's no "fluff" ... the way builds are designed keep this feeling fresh every run. [*] You'll have your favourite skills and weapons, but nothing feels completely nonviable. [*] it's one of the very few roguelites that allows you to pivot your build mid-run and still have a really strong end-game build. [*] you can rescue little monke minions and when you mash the dedicated "ook" button, you can have a little monke sing-a-long as they "ook-ook" with you. Honestly, this feels better than nearly every full-release of the genre I've played, and I've played nearly all of them. It is absolutely, 100% worth the asking price. edited 27/10/2024 after spending more time with it. It's a thumbs up because it's pretty great. It's two thumbs way, way, way up, because it's really great.. BUT Be aware that: [*] It's difficult. I found it way harder than dead cells or skul in early game. Runs feel tuned to be shorter and "all or nothing". I don't particularly like difficulty as a means to extend the life of a game, but the controls and combat are so well done that i can put up with it. Edit: after having spent a lot more hours in it, i'd say the difficulty is probably really well tuned overall, with the exception of one of the first bosses, see below) [*] It's frustrating. I still don't understand what to do with the first boss. there's a real lack of communication around what I should be doing, and because everything hits so hard, you don't get many chances to feel out the fight. I would say a non-trivial number of people would have a few cracks at the first boss and give up on Dunjungle. Edit: One of the first bosses (King Frogus) feels a bit over-tuned, but the other is ok (if anything a bit on the easy side). It's not super hard, just a bit confusing the first few times you fight him. (it took me an embarrassingly long time to work out what was killing me) [*] It's not dead cells, but it does have a huge variety of gear and the build variety is huuuuuuuuuge. Over-all, if you enjoyed dead cells/skul etc, you'll enjoy this. Over-all, if you enjoyed dead cells/skul etc, you'll love this.

Dunjungle is a great, inexpensive roguelike. Great feel, the movement and combat are fun, and the chunky pixel graphics and animation are fantastic. Playing the game, it reminds me of Revita, and also Skul, both games that I enjoyed greatly. The game is already release worthy, but lets hope for some great content and polish to be added during early access to really take it to the next level! 8/10

This game is a TRUE form of ART. The mechanics are smooth and innovating, and this makes the game SUPER fun. It really is a challenge, so if you really like to die and try again again again, this is for you <3 ALSO, the monke is so CUTE. The art style is IMPRESSIVE, the animations are very clean! And the music fits perfectly. I am a fan.

A certain boss at Biome 2 had me in tears. Can't believe I actually have the muscle memory for a boss's move set in a brand new game that I just bought. Also a lot of monkeys and monkey magic. 11/10

Amazing roguelike. It has everything I want, action, magic, monkeys, bananas! It's filled with charming surprises and challenging gameplay. One of the standout features of Dunjungle is its art style. The graphics are colorful and engaging. Each level is beautifully designed, offering a rich atmosphere that immerses you in the experience. But what I like the most are the monkey sounds (there's a dedicated button for that)! UHHH UHHH AHHH AHHH From a monkey to another monkey
