short and sweet. the plot points however... could have been fleshed out a bit more, kind of janky on that front but mechanics wise? it was pretty fun and challenging.

I've been interested in this game since I played the demo back when the title was "Dyson Sphere something something". First, it was a smart move to change the name as the Sphere, while emphasized heavily in the story, speaks nothing towards the unique drone swarm mechanic which is the game's selling point. As i was waiting for the game to drop to a certain price, I was getting disheartened to see so many negative reviews drop the overall rating to "Mixed" when I had enjoyed the demo so much. Now that I've finished the game and reviewed the reviews, I'd like to point out that much of the negativity is performance-based which my rig handled fine so complaints about clunky menus and jittery animations would actually be a varied experience based on your PC specs and not fair to fault the game itself. Perhaps the publishers would consider re-releasing a demo version so that you could check if it will run well on your system before buying. A few other complainers gave up on the game before their complaints got resolved later in the story, such as non-hostile ships and strategic variety. In terms of length, the missions are admittedly short, averaging 2.5 minutes per mission, but there's almost 90 total missions so "short" is a matter of perspective. I did finish in about 8 hours so maybe still wait for a sale, but I still enjoyed its pace and progression. Other Pros: - Fully voice acted, much more effort on the story, albeit a familiar one, than similar games. - Unique interface (because it's 32,000 drones like come on) - Varied strategic options (including some gratifying forced collisions) - Sound design reminiscent of Homeworld franchise. Other Cons: - The two female actors have fairly similar voices which can get confusing. - The "animation" on the 2D comic book stills during story progression is a little off-putting, better off left as stills probably.

I bought this game as it reminded me of the movie "Ender's Game" and its ok.. could be better. I was hoping to control a fleet of support ships with the mothership. After playing, it reminds me more of the anime "Space battleship, Yamato" and you'll know why. Takes about 6.5 hrs to complete, and you only have one ship to control. Still enjoyed it, and it was on sale for $6 recently, I would definitely not buy at full or half price. Future improvements needed. Just to list a few. - Able to replay certain missions, for us achievement junkies. - Able to acquire more drones pass the cap somehow - Able to accurately or preset the x amount number of drones for each type of ability, or atk/def/support. - Able to move the drone ship, making the battle more complex, strategic, and exciting. Positioning is key, being able to hide behind asteroids or regrouping allied forces.
