Now THIS, this hidden gem of a game is the NwN-like experience everyone lead me to believe BG3 was like. Interesting and varied character archetypes to choose for your character; the elven and human specific magics are a nice world-building touch; the 'expert' mode where you can can build your character (within reasonable limit) and start with the weapon & ability scores from the start for your preferred playstyle is especially enjoyable.

I've had this game in my steam library for almost 15 years and all of a sudden decided this is the year I was going to try it. CRAZY funny how a 15 year old game is better than the majority of new games these days. Just wow.... I have to say this game brings it. If you can get past the dated graphics, the hardcore abilities, stats, ruleset, etc is all there for a solid game. I'm genuinely having a great time with this and its LOOOooooong in terms of playtime. I feel this is a 100+ hour game easily if you're trying to beat it and do it all. Heck, I've put in 35 hours and my guys are only level 6 or so I think the game goes up to 20? Although I heard players were wrapping it up with level 16's and 17's. Still, that means I'm only 1/3rd to 1/4th of the way into the game at 35 hours so do the math...this game will take a long amount of time to complete if you're a completionist. All in all I'm totally digging it. And to think they've got two more Drakensang games that came out after this to tackle next if the want arises.... :P

This game is a ton of fun to play, expore and replay, because you can be sure, that you'll miss one or more sidequests in your first run. I've been playing it since its first release on DVD. It's the true modern "The Dark Eye" (das schwarze Auge). You have races, occupation, amazing regions (some of them can only accessed during their quest), funny characters and unexpected enemies /mobs. When I start it up, I feel the joy of nostalgia, we played the heck out of Drakensang in the 2000s.
