fun little game that is less of a 'game' in the traditional sense and more of a interactive narrative experience. it doesn't overstay its welcome and has charming dialogue in addition to satisfying gameplay that makes this a easy game to blast through in one sitting. another classic from annapurna, showcasing why they are one of my favorite publishers in all of gaming.

This game is very funny and cute - it doesn't take its story too seriously for what it is - a story about raccoons using doughnuts kidnap people - and the gameplay is simple though incredibly satisfying. I'll almost certainly be replaying this in an attempt to get 100% achievements someday. However, This game is about 2 hours long. I would not pay $13 for it, but I got it for about $4 which was great.

For people who love embracing chaos and laughing at destruction, and therapy has not proven effective in remedying this urge, Donut County is perhaps the best way that you can watch the world burn. This is because you play as a hole, except instead of being deep within your soul, this hole is your hole to command! Granted, it's possible to complete Donut County and attain every achievement in less than two hours, ultimately holding it back from being the most fun you can have with a hole. For reference, one should not consult the internet on how to get more mileage out of your hole. Instead, wait for a sale, and then spend a little time in Donut County, getting in touch with your inner hole. DISCLAIMER: If your doctor has prescribed you a donut to treat your hole, Donut County is not an appropriate substitute.

I bought this game for my 3.5yr old to play after searching for logical and brain training games for young players. My immediate comparison is to Karamari Damacy, the game's mechanics involves taking every day items and sucking them into a black hole. Starting with small scale objects like tissue papers - the more you consume the bigger the void, allowing you to collect much larger objects, even to the point of skyscrapers along the highway. What I didn't expect was the challenges you were to overcome during the game, in some cases there's not enough objects on the map to consume the largest item - you have to create more items such as popping corn kernels, breeding rabbits, or setting off fireworks to destroy cctv cameras in the secret labs. My kiddo found it relatively difficult with a mouse but using a controller he understood it's functions and even solved some of the more challenging scenarios. Even after some trial and error the game will guide you to the solution simply by removing every other object first. I found the story to be too long, cut scenes seemed to take forever and after the first dozen I stopped reading. The dialogue is directed to a younger audience, as a 34yr old with my kid I just needed a "skip all" option. It's a great concept and I'm aware of some controversy where a different publisher stole the idea. I think it could have been released earlier as an arcade type game without the story.

Fun little game to play for a few hours, but don't expect too much from it. Full price is a bit high for what it is but would recommend waiting for a sale before picking this one up.
