Great game, good improvement over the original. If you liked the previous game this isn't going to shake your world, it's just new content, a little more refined.

It's still a fun game but compared to the first it's a bit disappointing. The replay value isn't there. On my second playthru I was just looking to start achievements because of how little my cages changed from the first run thru. I also didn't find it as funny or interesting as the first. As a game style it's good, as a sequel it's a bit disappointing feels more like DLC.

I'm going to give this game a positive rating because ultimately I still enjoyed the game despite some faults and a very rocky start. I had to spend about 30 minutes troubleshooting the game because I wasn't getting audio when I ran it. This is a known issue with the game and seems to adversely affect USB headsets like the one I use. Fortunately once I fixed it the first time I did not need to again (thanks to a pinned discussion thread for that.) If you enjoyed the first game and are wanting some more of the same you'll enjoy this. If you haven't played the first I highly recommend you play Do Not Feed the Monkeys first even if the sci-fi setting interests you more. As a Sequel this game is very much more of the same from the first game. It is a bit disappointing how there doesn't seem to be any major innovations, but if you just wanted more of the first game than this will still work. However the cages feel much more difficult in this one on the first few runs than the other. I reached out for a guide much earlier because I kept running into walls that would make me feel stumped. Whereas with the first game I felt like I would figure it out if I kept trying at it. I recommend grabbing the free DLC as the two cages are both fun and some of the easiest in the game, thereby making first timer's experience easier. Though I would also recommenced toggling the DLC off when you start the game. This will still add the 2 cages into the pool for the game, but it does 2 things of notice to me. 1. on my first time playing I had the DLC ticked on and the lunar new year decorations while nice didn't help with the game's atmosphere. I actively prefer, and think the game is stronger with its base appearance. 2. I found the lunar new year music on the pause/start screen grating. Especially if you pause relatively frequently. Toggling the DLC option off returns the normal music for this screen (except when this bugs out) Other than that and the other audio issue I had there weren't any major game breaking bugs. I think I noticed my in game portrait change once or twice, but it wasn't in a way I could replicate. Overall once I got past that first hurdle of not having Audio the game play experience was relatively smooth. Like the first game this is also a fun game to perfect. None of it's 35 Achievements are too much of a pain to get. Although I wouldn't be surprised in the Achievement: Brown Dwarf ended up doubling my playtime on it's own due to some horrendously poor luck on my part Moving onto the game's narrative, this game isn't too interested in doing much that's deep or compelling. Just enough to stay interesting and give you a little food for thought. The endings to the cages are honestly more compelling than the individual endings to a complete run. Those are pretty much what you would expect but not much more in that department. In full honesty I'm not sure if them continuing to add cages to the game will get me to come back to this game or not. The free DLC is certainly appreciated, but I would have rather these cages just be in the base game. And unless they add new achievements tied to them I likely won't be interested enough in returning unless I feel the itch for more monkeys. Overall the game is a VERY safe sequel. if you've just finished the first game and want more this is the game for you.

So after 3+ playthroughs so far, the second game lags a bit compared to the first one, the world-building here was trying a little too hard with the "zomg, look how weird this future is, y'all", there's more moon-logicky guess-the-word-combination puzzles, and seems like there's a little less replay value .... but to be fair, I haven't tried the seasonal DLC cages. But when all is said and done (and monkeys fed), if you liked the first one, the sequel will probably hold your attention and is worth getting on sale. And I liked the additional options like a peephole, and having a few new ways to make some cheddar. As a side note, the next one I'd like to see is "Do Not Feed The Monkeys 1985" where you're looking at a wall of CRT screens next to a card catalog. I really think it could be the Bioshock Infinite this series needs. Here's hoping!
