DJMAX RESPECT V is one of the most well-crafted rhythm games I’ve ever played. Every penny spent on it is worth the experience. One of the first things that impressed me was how unique and distinct each theme is, with every theme having its own background music when selecting modes. Each chart has its own music video, and if it doesn’t, the game creates an original one, clearly showing the level of care and investment from the developers. The game is frequently updated, not only adding new songs but also introducing more difficulty levels to older charts. The game features four modes: 4B, 5B, 6B, and 8B. If you want to "get good," you should play every mode, starting from 4B, then progressing to 6B, and so on. In terms of value, if you're lucky enough to buy the game and its DLCs during a sale, it’s a steal. I was able to get the full game at 80% off. My only minor complaint is that the game doesn’t have many collaborations with other major rhythm games. While Chunithm and Muse Dash are included, I’d love to see DJMAX RESPECT V collaborate with games like maimai or SDVX and feature more Japanese artists. However, I have to admit that the game already offers a diverse range of music for everyone. I’m not a big fan of K-pop, but DJMAX changed my mind. I got to know more lesser-known Korean artists like TAK, KATOMORI, and XeoN, and I must say, I’m really addicted to their music. DJMAX RESPECT V truly offers an arcade-like experience at home. Solid 10/10 .

Overall Yeah, this is pretty triumphant in rhythm games. Kinda pricey, so it's best to get it on sale for like $8 instead of $50. Same goes for the DLCs. Unless you have a lot of money or really want to play this game, wait for a sale. If you don't believe me, look at the price of the complete edition of the game when it isn't on sale. The music variety alone in the base game and all of the DLCs is amazing. There's no way you will hate every song in this game. The difficulties are 4 keys, 5 keys, 6 keys, and 8 keys, each with 4 subcategories of difficulty (not all songs have every sub difficulty though for each). There are also chaos modifiers, which make the game ridiculous. You can also change the speed of the notes. Clear Pass It also has a "Clear Pass" (basically a battle pass system) that you can earn free and premium rewards for. You progress by completing levels (without the premium and point boosts, this is PAINFULLY slow, have fun grinding). The premium upgrade is $15, but it usually goes on sale when a new season comes out for like $12.49. You're paying $15 for 30 extra rewards and more points after you clear a level (about 500 extra per play). There's also a points booster for like $10 or something, which is available in a bundle with the premium pass for like $21 total, and if you are impatient with grinding, get the booster. It gives you like 2800 extra points per level. Modes So, you're probably going to spend like 90% of your time in FREESTYLE mode, which is just solo play. ONLINE mode is from what I understand a battle mode? I haven't touched it yet so I can't really say much about it. AIR is like a live radio system, where you can have songs autoplay or you can play the song. The main difference with it is that the songs are random, and refresh every minute, and there's 3 different difficulties. Also, messages from people all around the world appear during the song, which is cool to see, and you can even write your own. COLLECTION is just basically what you have, whether it be achievements or gallery art or anything else pretty much (which you earn by playing songs in the base game or in DLCs). The gallery is awesome cause you get art of the game in HD. MISSION is basically preset playlists to challenge you. And RANKING is just, where people are ranked. Overall, great variety. Really good rhythm game, and worth every penny on sale if you love games like this.

NOT compatible on the Steam Deck. Despite being marked as "Playable," the game constantly crashes within minutes after launching it, and the devs seem to be clueless on how to fix it. DO NOT BUY if you intend to play it on one. Otherwise a good game.

DJMax has been a niche rhythm series similar to Beatmania, where a bunch of notes rain down, and you hit it with proper timing. If you don't know Beatmania/IIDX, think Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero... most people who aren't heavy into video games usually still know those titles. There's quite a selection of music genres, and you might even get hooked on some songs that are not **** you typically listen to just because they're so darn catchy. This is a Korean game, so you will encounter Korean songs and some with broken English, but who cares. The music is very well done. This is the best release of the DJMax series thus far. It's hard; there are no gear effect compensations from previous versions (like protection from breaking your combo), so a full combo means much more than it used to. The song collection is MASSIVE, and they have been putting out plenty of DLC to cover previous game versions. Furthermore, they're doing DLC partnerships with Rayark, which is fantastic.
