This review is kinda tricky: Disgaea has reused the same sprites and animations going back all the way to 2003, and that only works for so long. That's what brings us to Disgaea 6 with the full shift to 3D models, which it'd be a major understatement to say was a HUGE change. On the plus side, I felt like they were able to successfully recreate the style and feel of the sprites with the new 3D models, and I'm really happy with the transition overall. However, if you go into this expecting as much stuff as there was in 5, that's just not realistic when they're basically starting from scratch with this one. They're going to have to build back up to where they were over the course of a couple of games. Tl;dr it's not as good as 5, but I'd still call it a good step forward for the series

If you like Disgaea, it's good! Get it! Check system specs, ofc, it runs fine for me, barring the occasional crash. (Not sure what causes the crash yet) Some units didn't make the cut! Be wary your beloved Valkyrie may not be in this game :( There's an intense auto-battle feature that you can customize, so I got the FF12 tingles! Thankfully with Autosave and saving after doing stuff in the hub, you'll have no troubles from crashes, as long as its not in the item world. 💀 There's a lot of wild reviews! if you like Disgaea you'll have fun! 😎

Love every Disgaea game, this one is great and I love the 3D. Downside is the "Auto-Battle", Obviously you don't have to use it but too many games are turning into self playing mobile type games. Force people to play the game themselves, that's the fun part believe it or not.

First off, if you're looking for a place to start with this series, I would recommend Disgaea 4 or 5 over this one. I think they are more solid titles overall, and it looks like the Steam reviews agree. That being said: I'm a Disgaea fan, and I enjoyed my time with Disgaea 6. Like the rest of the series, it's a crunchy turn-based strategy game with a lot of character advancement systems to optimize your chosen party. The plot is serviceable trope-y anime fare, about average for this series quality-wise. There were a significant number of mechanical overhauls in 6 -- some that I liked (Demon Intelligence lets you define AI behaviors to automate level clearing) and some not so much (tons of classes were removed; the Juice Bar trivialized a lot of spell and weapon mastery that felt more satisfying in the past.) What remains felt like a "couple steps forward, couple steps back" sidegrade from 5, but at least it's different enough to feel fresh for someone who fully completed previous titles. In summary, I give Disgaea 6 a mixed positive rating. Main story is about 20 hours. 100% achievement completion took me about 56 hours. It sounds like Disgaea 7 took this game and improved on it considerably, so I'm looking forward to trying that one.

I know D6 got a lot of hate. Haters gonna hate I guess. Some people were just so butt-hurt that the devs tried something different. Apparently they cried and itched enough that the devs gave them what they wanted. I dont know which is worse.
