First and foremost I would like to say that at it's asking price and for what you get, I must emphasize that no matter the complaints, this game is 100% worth the purchase. Overall- 7.5/10 Pros -This is the perfect game for those on the go (steam deck especially) -In my experience, although this game is listed as single player it makes a great couch co op game if you take turns passing on deaths or rooms. -Easy to pick up. Controls are so simple that even if this was your first game ever it will be easy to understand. -Longevity. This game has an infinite shelf life in the sense that it's so simple and fun that you can put it down for years and have as much fun picking it back up as you did day 1. Cons -Artificial Difficulty. You will have to progress fairly deep into the game to realize it, but some of the challenges are just outright unfair and will require you to repeat a room and pray that RNG is on your side. The late game takes a tonal shift from not being able to complete a room until you analyze and figure out the method to there's absolutely no method and they're throwing and spawning as many discs as possible and telling you to just last 15 seconds. No pattern rhyme or reason for you to figure out and feel satisfied for being able to complete. The late game gave me a similar feeling to Destiny 2 where you eventually start to feel like the game is dragged on because every enemy is a bullet sponge and there's no real challenge per say other than the time taken to finish. -THE DEVS BEST- Circling back to hard mode. A lot of the challenges are to last 15 seconds in each room. The problem with that is that a lot of the rooms, the devs best times arent even 15 seconds! How do you implement an obstacle to reach 100% that you, the creator, couldn't even overcome? If they didn't feel like sitting there waiting for RNG to be in their favor and accomplish that challenge, why would I, the paying customer, want to do it? PLAY TEST YOUR GAMES PEOPLE. That being said im realizing those complaints years later and still enjoying the game.

A Simple But Fun Bullet Hell Game This review is from the perspective of someone who 100%s games on Steam ---{ Graphics / Art Direction }--- ☐ You forget what reality is ☐ Beautiful β˜‘ Good ☐ Decent ☐ Bad ☐ Donβ€˜t look too long at it ☐ MS-DOS Note: Nothing crazy of note. The game has a simple art style which they stick to and it works well! ---{ Gameplay }--- ☐ Very good β˜‘ Good ☐ It's just gameplay ☐ Mehh ☐ Watch paint dry instead ☐ Just don't Note: The basic concept of this game is to throw you into a bullet hell and see how long you can survive. Despite this simple concept, the game does a good job adding unique twists and features along the way to spice up gameplay. If you enjoy games that just throw you in a room and tell you to survive then I think you will enjoy this game. There is also some little puzzle solving if you want to see all the rooms. Most of these are pretty easy to solve, but a couple I did have to find guides for. ---{ Audio }--- ☐ Eargasm ☐ Very good β˜‘ Good ☐ Not too bad ☐ Bad ☐ I'm now deaf Note: This game slots comfortably in the good slot when it comes to audio. Nothing is bad, but also there weren’t any tracks that stuck out to me. ---{ Audience }--- β˜‘ Kids β˜‘ Teens β˜‘ Adults ☐ Grandma Note: Most violent part of the game is dying to a disk. If you think you can handle that, then you will be ok. ---{ PC Requirements }--- ☐ Check if you can run paint β˜‘ Potato ☐ Decent ☐ Fast ☐ Rich boi ☐ Ask NASA if they have a spare computer Note: This game is not very demanding. ---{ Game Size }--- β˜‘ Floppy Disk ☐ Old Fashioned ☐ Workable ☐ Big ☐ Will eat 10% of your 1TB hard drive ☐ You will want an entire hard drive to hold it ☐ You will need to invest in a black hole to hold all the data Note: Takes up 200mb on my pc. ---{ Difficulty }--- ☐ Just press 'W' ☐ Easy β˜‘ Easy to learn / Hard to master ☐ Significant brain usage ☐ Difficult ☐ Dark Souls Note: This games difficulty is a bit of a tricky subject for me. Most of the rooms are easy, taking me only 1-2 attempts. Even the β€œhard” mode rooms didn’t push me that much. That being said, there are a couple hidden rooms that in my opinion are much harder than the rest of the game. This is fine on its own, but unfortunately since this game is a random bullet hell, it felt like clearing those rooms was more about waiting for some good RNG to hit then actually getting better at the room. Anyways, for the most part people who just want to play the game for the story and maybe some extra challenge rooms won’t find this game to be that difficult. The only real challenge comes when you really want to do everything and have to clear the 1-2 RNG rooms in the game. ---{ Grind }--- ☐ Nothing to grind β˜‘ Only if u care to ☐ Isn't necessary to progress ☐ Average grind level ☐ Too much grind ☐ You'll need a second life for grinding Note: Depends if you define grinding as trying the same room over and over again. If that is the case then some of the harder rooms might be a bit β€œgrindy” as you wait for some good RNG. For the most part though this is a game you can beat pretty quick. ---{ Story }--- ☐ No Story β˜‘ Some lore ☐ Average ☐ Good ☐ Lovely ☐ It'll replace your life Note: The β€œstory” of this game is told through comics and to be honest, I didn’t really get it. It ultimately felt tacked on and I wasn’t really sure what happened at the end of the game. ---{ Game Time }--- ☐ Long enough for a cup of coffee β˜‘ Short ☐ Average ☐ Long ☐ To infinity and beyond Note: You can beat the main game in 2-3 hours. Getting 100% took me 8 hours. ---{ Price }--- ☐ It's free! ☐ Worth the price β˜‘ If it's on sale ☐ If u have some spare money left ☐ Not recommended ☐ You could also just burn your money Note: I personally aim for $1 per hour spent, so I would recommend waiting for a sale. ---{ Bugs }--- β˜‘ Never heard of ☐ Minor bugs ☐ Can get annoying ☐ ARK: Survival Evolved ☐ The game itself is a big terrarium for bugs Note: Did not run into any bugs during my experience. ---{ Completion Experience }--- Nothing all too demanding, but there are a couple tricky achievements. The hardest one is easily surviving 20 seconds in every normal mode room. While most rooms are a walk in the park, there is one room in particular that took me about 2 hours to clear and it felt like it was mainly luck dependent. Other than that there is nothing crazy and should take less than 10 hours to complete. ---{ ? / 10 }--- ☐ 1 ☐ 2 ☐ 3 ☐ 4 ☐ 5 ☐ 6 β˜‘ 7 ☐ 8 ☐ 9 ☐ 10 Final Thoughts A fairly easy but fun bullet hell that has its fair share of unique ideas. While the story isn’t amazing and some rooms rely too much on luck, I would be lying if I didn’t say that the game was a fun ride for the most part. I would recommend checking it out! P.S Feel free to friend request me on Steam if you want to keep up on my completionist journey!

Disc Room is a short yet difficult game where you're put into small rooms and have to dodge disc hazards. The goal is to survive in each room for as long as possible. There's a few ability unlocks along the way but the game zeroes in on the single premise and then experiments a lot with it, that's a huge plus in my books. Each room has a mini leaderboard where you can compare your scores to your friends. This simple addition made me spend much longer on levels I already beat to see if I could best my friends score. Next thing I knew a few hours passed, and I was wondering where the time has went. However that feeling didn't last forever. I had fun with the majority of the rooms, but a few of them were infuriating as they seemed to heavily rely on the RNG placement of discs rather than the reaction skills and split second decision making of the player. The game also has a difficulty toggle in options, so despite the game having the difficult tag on Steam I don't think casual players should feel discouraged entirely. It's tough, but not unforgiving, and the option to make levels easier is always there if needed. Outside of a few moments that are frustrating for the wrong reasons, this is an addictive game and is extra worth if you have a few friends that already own it to compare leaderboards to. It ain't perfect but there's plenty of reasons to recommend this one.

I am a huge fan of gameplay distilled down to its barest essence (especially bullet hells), but Disc Room was perhaps a little too bare. Room design and abilities are not utilized to their full potential, the challenge feels a little lacking, and the game length is way too short. Ultimately I would recommend, but not at full price. 7/10
