Reminds me of good time playing board games with friends. It was fun for the first few hours but it got repetitive very soon despite all the different game modes. Nonetheless, a good game to relax on.

It's okay, originally I did not like that it was real-time, but then I realized that you can pause the game and still control the dice while paused, so that is nice. Not a fan of the "tutorial" mode where you have to discover what to do first before you can see the instruction page in the online manual; I believe just telling you before and then you do is better way to teach. Overall the mechanics are good, but I am glad I got it on sale because not sure how much I will play.

An odd little game. Playing on the settings advised by the dev (that is, difficulty 3 of 5, and NO PAUSE), it provides a surprisingly challenging resource management / colony builder sim, with individual games lasting ~1-3 hours. The dice mechanic takes some getting used to, but reveals to be a very interesting and clever take: You want to use your dice as they fall, as they already consumed the partial food you constantly produce for them, yet dice placed will take a minute to complete their job. So sometimes you would rather spend the 'extra food' on rerolling dice, particularly if you're under time pressure to quickly generate a specific result (i.e. a sudden bandit attack with your key soldier dice busied up elsewhere). On top of that the game's difficulty increases as time passes, so whilst you *can* sit around with a hand full of dice, not doing anything to conserve food (such as during winter), doing so means you'll fall behind the escalating curve. Tie it all together with a simple, but fitting, audio and video landscape, and an oddly humorous theme of living on a ringdworld, and you got yourself a charming little game with a creative take. Now, I keep saying 'little game', and that's kinda it biggest downside: There are exactly two scenarios. The former being a more lengthy 'campaign' (of about 3-4 hours on a first run when you're figuring out all the basics) and the second being a 'Time Attack' mode in which you have to rush procuring specific resources to meet demands (or be kicked out of office). There are some alternate leaders and modifiers that change aspects of the scenario... but whilst the modifiers can be kind of wacky (such as randomizing all costs), the leaders are remarkably... non-impactful. So I'd argue that the game doesn't have too much replayability value. I mean, I'm at 7 hours, and I may get another round or maybe two out of it before I'll end up bored. But, that shortlivety is reflected appropriately in the price, so it's fair and not a big negative. There's also a DLC (with a 3rd scenario), but since I don't own it, I can't rate it. Is this the next big thing? Far from. Is it a well-executed demonstration of an alternative way to manage colony sims? Absolutely. Is it worth your money? On a sale yes, otherwise maybe. Overall rating: 8/10 Short, juicy, and I would absolutely love getting a full-priced, full-content-width sequel to this.

This is a weird one for me. I enjoyed myself for 10 hours, so it's definitely a positive review. The core is quite fun and unique: a resource management game where you're constantly trying to make do with how the dice roll, because re-rolling them is expensive. However, I feel this is also a very flawed game. A lot of the progression is built around roguelike systems, with ascending dice, losing progress when you fail, etc. But a single match takes several hours, which makes it a poor fit for that, and the progression feels very grindy and uninteresting. Also, during my first match I played 4.5 hours only to find out my tactic was wrong (it being my first match after all), which felt very punishing. If I'm doing it wrong from the start, don't let it take several hours before I start losing. In another match the win condition wasn't clear to me so I lost my ascended dice because I accidentally won the match before re-ascending them. So I essentially lost progression by playing well. I also didn't receive any unlocks for that match. Extremely anti-rewarding success. So all in all I had fun, but I also had a lot of frustration.

If you can get this game for <$5 imo it's a steal. It's basically a worker placement game where your pawns are different types of dice, and there's a surprising amount of depth in resource management, upgrading your dice (you can make the currently rolled face of a die worth its current value + 1, which makes it count as an additional pawn for the purpose of fulfilling a location's requirements), protecting your base, and carrying your best dice over from game to game. After a little bit the "others" start sending waves of enemies that will attack and you repel them with soldier dice or peasants that roll the combat face. My first play through was thoroughly enjoyable. I'm not sure how much replay value there will be here, but at the sale price this is absolutely worth a shout, especially if you enjoy worker placement games.
