I suck at shmups but this game is like crack squared. It even makes the little fellas inside my brain do a jamboree. Art? Beautiful. Enemies? Well-designed and telegraphed. Encounter Design? Concise and thrilling. Sound? Breathtaking. The soundtrack is also incredible and can be purchased on Bandcamp: https://hasu2010.bandcamp.com/album/devil-blade-reboot (more than worth the price) For those unfamiliar with these sorts of games, it may seem a little short, but you'll quickly realize the game is built for replayability and will hold your interest for a long time. Overall, I would throw a brick at someone for five dollars plus tax, and this game is delightful.

The words "Rendered in the original native 320x240 resolution of the classics" in the description is the sole reason I bought this game. This is the most Sega Saturn pixel art game I've seen all year. If you have the capability to play PC games on CRT, set the image scale to 1x to get a 240p image and center the window in your CRT.

I just had more fun finishing the game on easy mode for the first time than ive had playing AAA games for the last 15 years. Everything about Devil Blade Reboot feels so incredibly polished and the music is very well produced. IMO the most suiting kind of music for shmups (and my personal favorite) is Thrash Metal with lots of screaming electric guitars and we get this in spades here. This feels like the kind of game i'd have spent $150 to mail order from Japan for my old Sega Saturn as a teenager. Basically, if you even remotely enjoy shmups, or even just video games in general, you should play this masterpiece. It's a love letter to everything that makes top-down shmups wonderful.
