Years ago, I finished a pirated version of this game. Now, I’ve bought it to show my respect and support for the developers. Point-and-click games aren’t the most popular genre, so there isn’t a huge selection to choose from. However, this game stands out as one of the best I’ve ever played, along with Tales of Monkey Island. I’m not sure if I’ll manage to complete the whole series this time, but I’m definitely enjoying it. The art, the dialogue, the interactions - it’s all fantastic. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the genre.

i ended up binging through the whole game as of recently and i ADORE it. this was my first point and click game and i had a fantastic experience playing throughout Deponia. i immediately fell in love with this game back in 2016 due to the appearance of the protagonist, the art direction and overall vibes of the story and then recently rediscovered it. Deponia is an extremely unique adventure game and allows you to think outside of the box with its puzzles. people may have their opinions with it, but i personally really like thinking! the narrative of the game is incredibly well thought out and charming, feeling lighthearted and silly but also knowing when to be serious and emotionally driven when it wants to be. the art direction for this game is WONDERFUL, and really reminds me of my favorite time era and aesthetics in media. the character designs, environments and soundtrack are perfectly crafted for this game. allow me to introduce a controversial opinion, but i LOVE Rufus as a character. i think he is a unique character with a personality that sticks out compared to most protagonists. it feels very refreshing seeing a dude who differs to the typical trope of "overly outgoing, innocent and goody two-shoes" in one. he feels like a really unique take on a bastard anti-hero. he's meant to be the worst in everyone else's eyes, yet you can't help but see that charm in him. his actions and gestures throughout the story are quick to pick up on and i couldn't help but really enjoy seeing how his chaotic views on everything around him unfolds. right at the end, it was really impact seeing how he has a slight in his desires of wanting to leave Deponia to instead end up help saving it because other people see it as their home. he aspires for something new, but ultimately falls back to help those who he remembers that want to keep their home. i truly love this guy. this was an incredibly fun game and i haven't had this much fun with a game in a really long time. i highly recommend you check out Deponia! onward to the rest of the franchise. HUZZAH, HE'S OFF NOW GOODBYE! <3

Excellent point and click puzzle adventure game. I've played the rest of the series and love them all. Great mix of good puzzles, good plot and great humour. If you like games like Broken Sword or Monkey Island, this is another good one to try in the same vein.

Deponia is a surprisingly enjoyable point-and-click adventure game featuring adventures of a grumpy protagonist on a trash-covered planet determined to reach a floating city of upper class people. The writing is dark and absurd, providing plenty of entertainment. Characters are memorable and quirky, contributing to the game's charm. The hand-drawn art style, with its vibrant colors and detailed backgrounds, brings the world of Deponia to life. Some puzzles can be quite challenging and require creative thinking, which might be a drawback for some players. Additionally, the humor can be crass and may not appeal to everyone. Deponia offers 19 achievements, adding an extra layer of replayability. One notable achievement, "Droggeljug," replaces all dialogue with the nonsensical word "Droggeljug" and can be frustrating to unlock. If issues arise with this achievement, instructions for unlocking it can be found on the Daedalic website. Deponia is recommended for those seeking a fun game with a quirky world, though its humor and puzzle difficulty may not suit all players.
