I originally was playing a game called "Live The Life", and it's not a bad game for the most part. But then I stumbled upon this game and noticed it kind of plays the same way. So I got this game, and I gotta say, I'm a little more impressed with this game than with "Live The Life". Denizen is a life simulator where you live a life (no pun intended... much) and build up your character. The whole idea is to simulate your life in a simulator, much like "The Sims", only as a Walking Simulator rather than a "point and click". You start out very basic, first home, first vehicle, no job, and just enough money to keep you alive for a few days. Along with trying to make money, you got to keep up with your character's 5 needs. Energy, food, drink, hygiene, and digest. As with any game with needs, you have to deal with your needs with food and drink. You can either head to a gas station to get instant food and drink in your inventory, or you can head to your local grocery store and purchase food items to make at home on your stove. Any foods you buy can then be stored in the fridge, at home, for later use. Foods you buy at the grocery store can also be stored and then be used to cook and put together other foods to make. Once you purchase these foods, just use the stove and you will see a list of foods you need to make the food items in the list. The more you cook, the more you will open up other food items as you progress in experience levels. When you get a job, you earn experience as well as money from your job. The more you work, the more experience you get. The higher your experience level, the more money you make as well as more skills get added on based on the job. I started out working for a pizza and started out only making basic pizzas. As I progressed in my experience levels, I gained more money and also learned more pizza recipes. Other jobs are also every similar, as you progress in your experience, you learn more skills and earn more money. There are other jobs, such as bartender, which also progresses in the same way, but with different pay and different skills to learn,. You can also purchase vehicles from various car dealerships and even upgrade them to make them faster, perform better, and even have better handling. Vehicles range from simple pickups to high-speed performance cars. Some vehicles can be used for jobs, such as delivery, while other cars can be used for drag races. If you plan to be a delivery driver, best to use a pickup or van. As with most life simulators, you can also purchase additional homes. You can purchase homes from your in-game phone. On top of that, you can then furnish your home and even setup your home to be "for rent". Depending on how you furnish your home, you will get a home rating. This rating is used to help you get people to rent your home. The higher the rating, better the offers you will make once you post the home for rent. Homes range from small apartments to large mansions. And of course, with your character you design, you can also purchase additional clothes for your character so you can be fashionable. You will even be rated based on the clothes you wear. This rating is partly used for the job you get, as well as when you meet a friend. So far, I am liking the game and they seem to be updating the game very well. This is the 2nd game I have gotten from this gaming company and they seem to be a more worth-while gaming company I can count on to update their games. I hope that Denizen will be a well designed game for people to enjoy. The only bugs/glitches I have seen so far are as follows (Understand that this is still in "Early Access, I'm just posting this here for reference. Also, I am sure there are more possible other glitches I have not ran into yet, this is just what I have seen so far)... 1.) Don't buy more than 1 vehicle from the same dealership, at a time. When you do, vehicles spawn in the exact same place and will overlap each other. If you use the "Vehicle Re-spawn" on your cell phone, it will practically pull them apart followed by a loud crashing sound. Just purchase 1 vehicle and then take it somewhere to be saved for later, and then purchase another one. 2.) Some places, such as the casino, aren't "fully" working yet. Based on what I saw at the casino, you might be able to "rent" a room, but can't currently be done yet. I say this is a bit glitchy as I was able to walk through the sinks in the bathroom. 3.) Playing this game for long periods of time will eventually cause the game to crash, so don't play the game for much more than an hour at a time, IMHO. There was a time or 2 when it did just crash after 10 minutes of play. I managed to finally make it to "The Vault", which is a dance club. When I managed to get to the dance floor, it started to lag a big from so many 3D objects, and then I got stuck on the dance floor and then the game crashed. 4.) When I was trying to sell my vehicle or rent my home, I couldn't "cancel" people out of the list that were interested, but I was able to "accept". Keep this in mind when you make an offer to sell something. 5.) When I was driving my vehicle, I managed to crash into a street sign and then my vehicle got stuck. I wasn't driving very fast and I was trying to turn to avoid hitting another car. I turned too much and I hit a street sign and the front end of my vehicle got stuck on the sign and I couldn't reverse out. Although it was an easy fix, just use the "Re-spawn" on your cell phone under your Assets app and it will put your vehicle in a different location. Also, just a note, if your vehicle takes physical damage, just sleep til tomorrow and your vehicle will be fixed next day.

This game has a bit of a learning curve, and it does not hold your hand with GPS waypoints, minimaps or other QoL things many other games have. It requires you to figure many things out on your own. that being said, this game is quite fun, albeit missing any substantial content to keep me interested for longer than a few hours a month. I managed to buy all properties but one, all the cars and businesses within the first 20 hours of gameplay, and after that there's not really any end game content to keep me coming back to the game. I understand that it's early access, but the updates are sporadic and honestly not much more than a few hours of novel gameplay and then it sits in my library for 2-3 more months until the drop another, boring update. This game does have a lot of potential, and I do recommend it, but I will warn anyone, that replayability/end game content is SEVERELY lacking. I'd give this a 6/10.

The game is fun so far but there’s only 1 save slot. My wife wants to start a world and can’t without over writing mine. It’s 2024 guys can we get multiple save slots please?

I was a bit skeptical at first, life sims are not typically something I play. But this game quickly won me over after I watched some videos and dove into the early access for myself. It really feels like this game has a bit of everything, at it's only been out for a week with much more content to come. The developer has certainly shown their passion for what they've been working on, and are very active with the community going through the early access process. Some notable features/activities include: [*]Applying for jobs, currently there are three. [*]Purchasing, owning, renting property out to others [*]Ability to decorate your real-estate interiors with paint colours and furniture [*]Flipping houses [*]Opening several of your own businesses, there are three currently available [*]Several vehicles to purchase all with their own specs and handling [*]A cell phone with several handy apps [*]A fairly detailed map including a downtown area and several outskirt areas [*]Weather effects including sunny days, rain, thunderstorms, fog [*]A social app to increase affinity with up to four different people [*]Ability to copy music/videos into the appropriate folders to play in-game on the home stereo and TV (very awesome feature) [*]A survival system where you eat, drink, hygiene meter, energy level, and usage of a restroom. All while not being overbearing like some other survival games have done. [*]Casino, Nightclub, gambling, a pub, and other establishments you can enter and interact with. [*]Environment audio is great Things to consider: [*]The graphics are not triple A [*]There are a few minor bugs [*]It can be easy for some players to rush through and complete all available content, however, there are still ways to continue enjoying the game even if one 'completes' all content. Do keep in mind it's early access and more content and polish is on the way. I want to make note of one of the vehicles I'm quite fond of. The cargo van is virtually identical to one I operate IRL where I work. While it's not amazing in any specific way, what I can say is that the visual appearance is great, the size is bang on, handling feels about right, the engine sound and acceleration feels right, and the cost of fuel based on fuel gauge, the amount of in-game time driving, and the cost to fill up matches its real life counterpart. Very well done. I haven't tested many other vehicles yet, but based on this I'm sure they're working on getting most vehicles on par with their real life counterparts. Overall, this has been a great experience. The game overall, even in this early state, feels like it's balanced fairly well. There is no micromanaging, it feels that you have just the right amount of interaction and input with the things that you generally do in the game without the feeling of being overwhelmed. The interactions with NPC's are currently limited, however, I do expect that will ramp up as the game is further developed. For those that feel there isn't much content or much to do in the game, I fail to see how one would feel that way. There is plenty to do, even when only considering the currently available content. I would rate the game a solid 8, but IMHO, I'm giving it a 9 based on my current review and the fun I've had while playing. Looking forward to updates and see how it progresses in early access. Thank you and well done to Departure Interactive.

The very first thing I did in this game was microwave 10 of my cigarettes. It made a little smoky effect in the microwave, but that was it. Then I was able to remove the cigarettes from the microwave and they seemed to be perfectly usable still. I worked my crappy pizza job and found that I make more money than the entire business does selling the pizzas. There is no interview, no boss, no radio, no open windows, no TV - absolutely nothing - 0 customers - while you perform your entire shift. You are grossly overpaid for overperforming. To such an extent, that your daily pay surpasses the entirety of the gross profit for your City Pizza. How am I getting paid 300 bucks a shift for doing extra work when the pizzas themselves only sell for 285? What about overhead? Who preps all the food? Where is the boss? How is the bathroom and floor so clean? You mean to tell me that I can't cuss out my boss in a fit of rage, or slip and break my pelvis and sue? I ran over a few people, and a pop-up came up saying to watch out for that, because you can be fined. I was never fined, and I sent a dude flying a good 20 feet. I am now a bartender. Pizzas are for newbs. I make way more money, but the work is more constant. Customers approach 1-3 at a time, and are on a very short 'patience timer' for how long they'll wait to order and then how long they'll wait to receive their drinks. It's best to do 2 at a time, so I found. For 2.50$ a drink, I have no idea how this place pays me over 4x the money I make them. Wild. This is not a complaint that the game pays you too much for each job, it's just mathematically unsound and that bugs me while I try really hard to enjoy this game. The Casino: Absolutely the worst. You can do slot machines (which are the exact same as the lotto tickets you can buy at a gas station, so why bother?) -- You can play Blackjack (which is the exact same as the place right down from your apartment, so why bother?) -- and you can play a really terrible 'horse racing betting' game. It's the worst. I got excited when I saw 'POKER' plastered on the wall, but it was a tease. It's all blocked off. Probably a WIP. That's cool. I hope the poker ends up being decent when it's added. Social aspects: Really really terrible. You can't have a conversation at any point in the game with anyone. Sure, there are lines of text you can click in your 'social' app, but they never build onto a convo. The responses barely match what you say. Then, when you've spent a long enough time with the nonsensical social quasi-versations, eventually you can 'meet up' with people... which unfortunately leads to more of the same. You have 3 dialogue options at all points. Basically a 'What's up?" a "Gotta go now." and a "Let's move in together." option. There is no building of reputation or converse, it literally just gives you a bit more on your 'friendship status bar' in the social app every time you interact with the individual. After interacting in all ways possible with all of the (only 4?!?!) people on the social app, I have them all in 'green' but since 'hanging out' really doesn't mean anything, I tried spamming it. Nope, seems like the game forces you into hollow and meaningless clicks many many times (I tried 15+ hang outs over time with individuals, and my 'friendship bar' is maybe 25% tops -- so I have to ask the developers..... What is the point? Please honestly answer this question. What is the point of this game? You can call it a 'life sim' and 'early access' but this resembles, at its best moment, a high-school project. There is literally nothing to do, what's there doesn't really function or make sense, but y'know -- why not -- let's list it on the steam store and see how many suckers there are, right? Right? Where do you plan on taking this game? Will it ever resemble a game? Right now, it exists to waste 2 hours of time so people can't successfully click 'refund' and that's the truth. And this is coming from someone who enjoyed the game, played it well over 2 hours, never had any intention of refunding it and will continue to give it a shot to see where (or if??!?!) it even goes anywhere. Everything in the world is empty - completely barren, and shame on you for calling that a 'casino' and a 'night club' -- Can I literally only buy 2.50$ drinks at the night club and that's it? No one wanted to meet there. There was no option to even 'dance' and you can't even socialize. Not a single piece of art on any wall? Any where? for any reason? But you have a store that sells art for apartments? Is it really too much to just begin decorating the game since there's only a handful of places you can go anyway? And most of these places are one room each? If a dev responds to this, place humor me & don't just give me a lame "cut and paste" response. Please, give me some insight on what direction you are going to take this, and when. Cheers.
