Interesting storyline concept. The artwork is really good. The dialogue entraps me, wanting to hear it. Also collecting all antlers was satisfying, wanting to solve 100%.

Whenever I start up a game and write a review I lay aside 2 things. How much the game cost, and why I even added it to my catalog in the first place. DEER MAN did not disappoint, I had wishlisted and bought it months ago. It sat on my unplayed games shelf for too long though. It lifted my mood. Clean story telling In a funny way the game starts slowly and builds it's narrative, you are visiting family, a foreigner, in a foreign land. You like to run, a lot. So even though you are maybe not feeling that safe, you set out for your morning run, your routine, everyone else is still sleeping so you slip out into the woods. And the story gradually picks up pace, you are trying to make sure you don't get lost, and when you find an axe, you think, yeah I'll take that with me, it feels like a good thing to do. Some people playing this report getting lost, backtracking and wandering about, but I finished the game almost too soon, the level design is so incredibly clever that it probably fools clever people. Go where the level designer wants you to go and this game will take 20 minutes, if not less. This game is not The Long Dark, this game is not Year Walk either, and it will race you up to a heart thumping climax and then deliver the message. I did not predict the end, keen to know who did. Short sweet and brilliantly delivered. Effects The soundscape is perfect, it is muted just enough to build that feeling of deep isolation and solitude which is only offset by the pathway markers which guide you, and the comforting, no the re-assuring voice, of the narrator George Wienberg. I love it when a game does just enough to do the job and no more. Excellent music, excellent game mechanics all done Just Right(tm).

Its okay for less than 1$, music is quite relaxing and the setting is cool but its a very basic game and the story is mediocre but touching.

went into this not expecting much and honestly it was a pretty decent short experience. that being said i can understand why some people do not like this game. it can be finished in one sitting and has a very simple message, however, one thing that makes this game stand out for me and made me enjoy it was definitely the atmosphere. i really like the all white backgrounds of the game contrasted with the black of the deer, definitely gave it a dreamscape vibe and i really like that type of look. overall this is not bad for a one dollar game. although i guess it could have been a bit longer, maybe added some puzzle sections as well as way points for the players to follow as it is quite easy to get lost in this game sometimes.
