Interesting game. They reworked on it. But still there are zones where when you enter, you are stuck there. Really need to do something with that.

Pros: Leveling up, zombie killing, exploration etc. Cons: A lot like other maps that don't have seeded maps, you run into the same campaign every time you play it. Conclusion: This is one of the better zombie open world survival base building games out there. Give it a try!

This game is the spiritual successor of Decision 3 (better, in many aspects). If you want to re-live Decision 2 (as in, liberating half of the game alone with overwhelming firepower, infinite ammo and quickly evolvable guns), this is not the game for you, you will need a good squad to not suffer with overwhelming amount of zombies. I like the game especially if I measure it against Decision 3 though it is really a fusion between the two games, just as much relying on base-building as free-roaming, though since getting better long-range weapons are either difficult or luck-dependant free-roaming is less me mopping up the streets and more me planning my route as to where to go, the game does scratch my nostalgia itch I bought the game for

I have complaints about this game, but I have also sunk many hours into it, so while I have issues, I certainly recommend it. First, my ADHD brain, loves any game that involves base-building, strategy, and RPG elements all in one. The game loop feels like it's customized for me and I've, quite literally, sunk hours into this game when I just wanted to pop in and cycle through one day's worth of events. I can see how the repetitive cycle can get boring for some people, but I love it! It relaxes me. My issue is the quality of life stuff. Holy crap, when I have 75 low level knives in my warehouse, there is no way to collect and sell them in bulk. So prepare to click and click and click until each individual knife is added to one characters inventory and you can take them to a merchant. Really, that's the thing that bugs me about this game, quality of life is a pain in the ass. I'd love a proper map screen, I've had characters end up in the wasteland through weird means and I had no way of finding them because the mapping in this game is terrible. Inventory management is atrocious, as is managing all the different people that end up in your post apocalyptic mutant/zombie wasteland. Despite these flaws, I love this game, I'm trying to tear myself away to dive back into the narrative RPG's I love so much, but damn, this game hits with the dopamine. Recommendation? Get it on sale, definitely not worth the $20 price point with the level of jank and the lack of QoL elements.

Quite a departure from the old flash games, but still had a pretty good time with this. It's kind of like an isometric State of Decay, a lot of the vibes felt very similar. Still a bit simple despite the departure from its flash game roots, but fairly solid nonetheless. Inventory and squad management was a pain, and the way expansion worked was somewhat underwhelming after a little bit, but fragging zombies is good arcadey fun, especially when you have a whole squad blazing a path through the horde. I think the devs had a really good idea that they kind of just didn't end up going for? The whole premise is there's this mist that makes zombies immortal and you have to carve out safe zones from the mist. However, expansion just ends up being upgrading your mist repellers until the radius reaches another settlement, then going there to clear the area and turn on the next repeller. I feel it would have worked a lot better if in order to expand you had to venture into the mist to turn on the next settlement's repeller, taking a huge risk in order to do so. Felt like that whole premise ended up falling a little flat, you really can't venture into the mist at all, which is a bit lame, y'know? Also, each settlement has a nearby "leader" zombie or mutant that is responsible for attacks on the settlement. For the 14 settlements, there are 9 leaders. Once you defeat a leader, the nearby settlements will no longer be attacked. Ever. Which makes defenses somewhat meaningless. You really only need to acquire the bare minimum defenses to successfully repel an assault, and then venture out to defeat the now vulnerable leader to make the area permanently safe. You'll still encounter random groups outside of settlements, but the settlements themselves are no longer under any threat. You also will always know exactly when an attack is coming, and can even opt to provoke the attack early, letting you deal with these assaults entirely on your own terms. Detracts a little from the vibe of defending against endless hordes when they're really not endless at all and will politely work around your schedule. In the end, the only real reason to upgrade your defenses is that its required to upgrade any other structure in the settlement, which is a bit silly to be entirely honest. Wouldn't recommend this for $20, as honestly its not really that great, but on sale its a great value at $5.
