I'm genuinely shocked that I don't think I've ever heard anybody talk about this game. I cannot stress enough how much you /need/ to pay attention to the content warnings but it's beautifully executed in it's art and narrative, surreal, sincere, as scary as it is charming. It's got shades of Perfect Blue and Paprika, a sprinkle of The Cell, and if you've ever wanted "Girlhood Horror" (SH3, Haunting Ground, Rule of Rose) centered on an adult woman, this is your game.

Great little horror game. It’s thoughtful, disturbing, and has incredible art direction. The score and sound design were also fantastic. My only critique - and this is just because of how I played it - is that some of the minigames/boss battles are not great on Steam Deck. There seems to be a bit of latency between pressing a button and the game responding, which makes some of the rhythmic parts of the game challenging.

This game is a 5/5 to me. It made me anxious to play so many parts, but because I felt what the character felt. I loved how some really disturbing things are portrayed so artistically, so subtle, and at the same time it was, why, why did this happen to you? Artistically loved it, music and art wise. About the minigames, while they add some spice, somehow there were some games like the dancing one that were..trying, and some others in which I did not understand the queue. But overall it just takes a couple of minutes to figure them out. Overall I really recommend this game, it touches complicated topics, and also touches healing. And how healing makes a long way.

To be a woman...to experience every woman's fear... Finished this game in a bit over 7 hours. Challenging, atmospheric, terrifying, and heartbreaking. Decarnation tells the story of Gloria and her life as it spirals out of control. I wish I could go in depth but I'd hate to spoil anything. Gloria is written as a multi-dimensional, complicated being with complex feelings. We often float between reality and her dreams, which are full of Junji Ito-style body horror. The artwork is fantastic, music is beautiful, characters are interesting. It's only January and this might be one of my favorite games of the year.

i for one enjoy good interactive storytelling and don't require fast shooting finger twitching action, but others may be disappointed by the lack of gameplay in this game. this is narrative storytelling occasionally punctuated by mini-games, not a game occasionally punctuated by cutscenes, set your expectations accordingly. as far as the narrative is concerned, i found it to be an excellently told psychological horror thriller story with fantastic art and memorable music. the original tunes from synthpop act fleur et bleue are an absolute treat. DO CHECK CONTENT/TRIGGER WARNINGS before purchasing. this game covers heavy topics. in my opinion it handles them with respect, grace and tact, with nothing gratuitous or glorified, but they are still heavy topics none the less. my only real issue...are the rhythm mini-games. i know this isn't Guitar Hero. i know that you are supposed to fail some of the rhythm sections as a reflection of your lead characters instability. BUT...the inputs often did not make any sense in regards to the music, and the input timing was always off just slightly from the actual tempo. i'm not trying to toot my own horn, but i'm *great* at rhythm games. i am a musician, i started on drums, i am very good at keeping time. when i play rhythm games i watch the upcoming button prompts but i always input them on feel, because i don't need to watch the note land in the circle to know when to hit the beat. the input timing on this game are just slightly off enough that i *had* to watch and hit the note on the visual of it entering the circle. i was not using my ears at all, it was literally easier to take my headphones off because hearing an actual beat was too distracting and i naturally wanted to follow it. if i have to play an AUDIO rhythm game VISUALLY, you messed up. i don't have input lag issues on any other game i have ever played, so i would be shocked if this was an issue with my setup. if this was an intentional design choice for the sake of immersion then i applaud the developers effort even though they chose the most frustrating way to do it. but this doesn't feel intentional, it feels like someone who doesn't even like music programmed the note patterns. that was a LONG rant for such a small part of the game, so if you find the story intriguing don't like it dissuade you. the rhythm games are only a tiny fraction of the game. i just needed to vent that frustration. 4 out of 5, recommended.
