If you're curious about the performance on Steam Deck, it's pretty mediocre. Some PvE races hit 60 fps at low settings, but high action races with other players will cause the game to drop to 30-40. Otherwise, it works decently enough This is a tricky game to recommend. I like it a lot, and I think it's really something special. It feels like an Xbox 360 game you'd take a chance on at Blockbuster and be pleasantly surprised with. The core gameplay is very rewarding and fun, and gives you an intense sense of speed. The game's theme is cool, even if I don't really think it works well in this genre. The graphics are also very impressive, even if I can't personally appreciate them since I'm on Deck and need to run everything at low quality. That said, there's a lot of small issues that bog the overall experience down for me. First and foremost, the game being online only is absolutely ridiculous . I don't love the PvP focus, but I don't like the idea that I can't access bot races or the PvE mode if the game's getting an update... or becomes another Concord. If the game wasn't as fun as it is, I would not recommend it for this point alone. Looks like the devs introduced an offline mode, which is excellent! The content for this game is really lacking. I'm not holding it against the game too much as it just released, but there's only a handful of tracks and the PvE mode leaves me wanting more. The various modes are fun and difficult (as you'd expect if you've played a Sonic racing game), but there's only 9 missions. There are 4 mission types, and each have 3-5 tracks, all laid out in a basic menu. The race start and finish times are far, FAR too long. There's been a few times that the races themselves are quicker than the load times before and after it. I also find it frustrating that when I play PvE, I can't quickly restart when I'm in a race. For a game that scratches the gotta go fast itch, it enjoys making you wait. I mentioned this in the beginning of my review, but I personally don't think this theme really works in the arcade racing genre. It looks cool visually, but tracks all have the same feel and a similar style, and it's very hard to tell them apart. The characters are also a little bland. I like playing racing games that have characters with personalities and different stats, but with Deathsprint 66 I find the characters uninteresting and boring. A majority of the character unlocks are recolors, or maybe a helmet here and there. There's no real customization aside from cosmetics. Lastly, there's some general jank to the game. There's a lot of annoying checkpoints that will spawn you directly in front of an obstacle (or even off the map) and not being able to see your boost meter for a few seconds after respawning is a minor gripe I have. Some rails don't let you lean if you don't jump onto them, causing you to get hit by a grinder. I also find obstacles, powerups and the time rings sometimes blend into the stage and are difficult to spot. I think a lot of this stuff will get fixed eventually, but for now it's worth mentioning. If you're like me and you love arcade / kart racers, or anything Sumo has done in the past, this game is an easy recommend. That said, you might want to consider waiting until some of these issues have been fixed and maybe a bit more content comes out.

This is the best racing game I've played in a long time and probably one of the best I've ever played. It's a bit light on content considering the high price but it's really worth it. It looks and feels like a high-quality product and I can't stress enough about that. Get it and jump right into the action. Even through the player base is pretty small, I did not have problems finding matches online at any time.

When I was a kid and was on my way to school in my mom's car, sometimes I would look out of the window and imagine myself running at the car's same speed, jumping, wall-running, and sliding between cars, signs, and buildings. Well, this game fulfilled that fantasy. I love the concept, the graphics, the speed. That feeling of accomplishment when you die repeatedly and finally figure out the correct approach to a map. The game has potential. However, it is lacking in multiple aspects. First, as you would expect, the pvp player base is small. Sometimes, you would jump into a game with only one more player. It is understandable, however. The game is new and needs some polishing, which I will get into later. Personally, I don't care. I like PvP games, but what I really like is the PvE mode. The challenges are fun. Time limits, jumping through rings, collecting speed boosts. There is a decent variety, but the number is limited. As of now, there are only 33 challenges. Each one should take 5 to 10 tries, depending on your skill. Next is the loading time. It is alright for PvP but for PvE, where you will be restarting over and over again, it gets annoying. Imagine you start running, and after three seconds, you make the wrong jump and die. You could keep going, but you know you lost precious seconds and won't finish the challenge on time, so you restart. That's 8 seconds of loading, plus another 6 seconds of unskippable cinematic, and that's not even counting the countdown to start the race. Then you die again 4 seconds after restarting. You get the point. Finally is the game personality. Maps look similar to me, except for different neon colors. Each one should have more distinctive elements so you can easily identify them. It's the same for the runnersā€”limited customization in the form of recolors. I want to make my runner look different from everyone else. I wanna play, see my runner and think, ā€œYeah, that's how I would dress if I were competingā€. The feeling I get right now when I look at my runner is that it looks like an NPC. If the developers address my previous points, i think the game would be slightly better. HOWEVER, if there is something I think would make the game 10 times better is A MAP DESIGN TOOL. I just can't stop thinking how cool it would be to create my tracks and test them, try other players' creations, try to beat their scores, come up with silly track ideas, cool tracks, tracks that are challenging, tracks that require you to be slow to be precise, tracks that play themselves just by accelerating (kinda like Happy Wheels where you just start a map and enjoy the show the creator made for you). If this is implemented, the game would get so much replayability. Devs, even if your focus is the PvP, I think you would get a bigger player base by doing this. I want to see this game succeed, i really do. It has potential, so I hope the developers listen to the feedback.

Sick game - needs work however tons of fun. Games needs some of the following 1. Create your owns tracks, community made maps 2. grand prix mode / league 3. Faster default run speed 4. Private Matches 5. Team Mode racing Death match 6. Some of the hitboxes need work - such as the mines, the hitbox is to high. 7. More maps, more variety 8. more power ups 9. Single Player should be offline.

Its a decent game if you like weapon racers like Wipeout and Mario Kart etc. Graphics are decent and good frame rates at 4K. Nice visuals and good music. Well priced for what it is. If it was a full price Ā£50 I'd be saying not worth it, but for the Ā£18 launch price and even the Ā£20 thereafter, I'd say it's a decent fun choice. Couple of bugs which is to be expected. I got frozen in place a couple of times on tracks with everyone else whizzing past me. But lunch bugs to be expected for an online game I guess. All in all, decent enough.
