Odds are if you have this you probably got it if you got the Valve Complete Pack when it was on sale for some really low price. So, what is Deathmatch Classic? It's an old-school "Boomer Shooter." Meaning it's Quake-styled arenas where you and some other folks (but probably bots) can blow each other up in. There's not really a reason to get this nowadays unless you're a die hard fan of the genre but hey it's not a bad game by any means just not really for me. If you're just a die hard GoldSrc engine nerd/purist then by all means go for it, just be aware the lobbies are few and far between so good luck getting a game together.

Previously, the game was a masterpiece. There was a dashing multiplayer in Deathmatch mode, a lot of people, a lot of servers. There were adherents to create their own servers, where they organized handmade co-op using console commands of spawn mobs. There were servers with empty maps (just one grandiose naked field) on which almost everyone was using console commands to build a bunch of exciting things. We explored the possibilities of the Source engine. Servers were made where they organized a crazy mix of Deathmatch players and a bunch of made mobs. But after the update came out a couple of years ago, all this is gone. Dangerous mistakes were noticed, it became impossible to do anything, because the game is crashing here. The old single player cards are no longer working due to the bifurcation of the entities. An ordinary game without console commands similarly died due to progressive crashes. As a result, the game was ruined by the developers themselves with one meaningless patch. At the moment, there are several servers in Deathmatch mode, of which 2-3 are playing and that's it! The game was not bad. But now it's just a dead fable, the game died as a result of the fact that the developers scored a bolt on it and did not work at all to fix their own jambs. I probably played this game for about 100 hours in the past, exactly when the game was still in good health. There's nothing to do there at the moment.

Deathmatch Classic, released by Valve, is a tribute to classic online shooters, inspired by Quake and released as a mod for Half-Life. Can this retro game capture the attention of players in the era of modern productions? Here's an analysis of its key elements. Graphics: [*]Outdated graphics, typical of productions from years ago, may be less appealing to modern players. Gameplay: [*]Simple and dynamic gameplay reminiscent of classic shooters from the 90s. Sound Design: [*]While the sound design is decent, it doesn't stand out with anything particular. Difficulty: [*]The game isn't difficult, but mastering advanced techniques may be challenging for novice players. Hardware Requirements: [*]Low hardware requirements allow for smooth gameplay even on older computers. Storyline: [*]No storyline - the game focuses solely on multiplayer gameplay. Pros: [*]A nostalgic experience for fans of retro games. [*]Simple and fast-paced gameplay. Cons: [*]Outdated graphics may deter some players. [*]Limited online community may make it difficult to find matches. Deathmatch Classic offers a pleasant journey into the past, but its outdated graphics and limited online community may deter some players. Nevertheless, for fans of classic shooters, it can be a solid option for a moment of entertainment. In summary, while Deathmatch Classic isn't perfect, it provides a nostalgic experience for fans of classic online shooters. For those looking to return to the genre's roots, it may be an interesting proposition despite some shortcomings.โ€

Considering how abandoned the online scene for this game is, it should be free to play, but at least with a heavy discount and in bundle (which grants further discount), it is not the worst option of burning your money and perhaps you might actually know a person to play this with.
