Headline Already excellent potentially top-tier Slay-the-Spire like, with some very compelling and notable improvements over the classic Slay template, such as far more generous opportunities to build your deck and tableau. Visually beautiful and super slick playing deck-building turn-based card battler roguelite. Highlights? Gorgeous Visuals This is some of the most beautiful 2d art seen within a deckbuilding roguelite, and the animations are wonderfully slick and pretty BUT they do not get in the way of gameplay i.e., you are not trapped watching fancy animations or cutscenes. Your time is respected here. Compelling and rich but unobtrusive lore and narrative Unusually for the genre, your runs have a specific, defined purpose, and they take place in a *world* involving characters with a backstory, fighting against bosses with their own stories. You *can* ignore it, but you can also tap into it whenever you like. Highly rewarding run progression This is *better* than in Slay. At every choice of encounter within a regular run you are offered a choice of 3, and each alternative will offer a different set of rewards e.g., cards, relics, max HP, HP recovery. So you have a LOT of control over how you evolve your tableau and deck. Also, whenever you decline a new card you get a small gold reward instead, so you are always getting something positive from a successful battle. Highly promising escalating difficulty & build varieties There is an Ascension system in place, called “Feat of Glory”. This looks very likely to have the potential to provide, along with the 4 playable characters with highly varied powers and cards, lots and lots of enjoyable playtime. I am already at 50 hours and expecting at least double if not far more than that. Meta Progression Offers the usual – new cards – but also unlocks story elements which are quite incredibly well written and interesting to review whenever you like to. For example, each time you fight a given boss, you will get a new page of their story, up to 5 in total. These tell you what those bosses are trying to do in the wider background story, and how they ended up fighting you. Some are rather funny, but in a highbrow fantasy way, rather than slapstick. Caveats? Initial Difficulty / Balance Feels absolutely fine to me, but for less experienced players in the genre the current final boss might be a really, really tough challenge. Developers are already considering options for adjustments. Steam Deck UI / Text I have not played on Steam Deck, but others that have report that the text in particular is just too small to comfortably play with. It seems very likely – given developer engagement and responsiveness – that this will be changed

Decent Deck Builder for the price. Would recommend if you want to scratch the STS itch. PROS: each run has enough variation to make them interesting enough with different cards and artifact buffs decent variety of cards for each character Nice graphics, decent Bosses Pretty challenging on hard without having to really add modifiers Cons: Characters aren't really balanced, the Knight and the Guy with the gun are way OP while the whip girl and sorceress kinda suck No deck build varieties for the characters. There's only really one or two ways to build the deck. Same mobs recycled over and over You don't realize your deck sucks until way later

If you like Roguelike deckbuilders, you probably also like this one. Obviously with just shy of 7 hours of game time, I have not experienced the later difficulties and how they scale the difficulty, so I can't say whether it's done well or not. But what I can say is that the 7 hours I've played has been fun and not repetitive at all, and I have not yet even played all 4 of the heroes, let alone unlock all the cards. So it's probably safe to say that even with the price tag of around 20 moneys, this is "worth" your money if we're speaking €/$ to play hours ratio. Hard to say if this will keep you entertained for 20, 50, or 100+ hours, but I'll go ahead and recommend this either way.

If you like Card Battle games, if you like Slay the Spire, you definitely should give this a try. The art is beautiful, the animations are very well done, the game addictive. Bear in mind this is not the full release, so there are some balance issues to be tackled, but I am confident the Devs are working on it. I hope to see this game expand over time, as I want to play even more of it.

A wonderful game with great visuals and captivating gameplay. Even though I'm not a fan of such genre, Deathless manages to entertain you without making your head explode from memorizing various combinations and/or understanding complex mechanics. It's a nice deck-builder that lets you rest after a hard day's work or on the weekend. Also, it's always pleasant to see beautiful representation of Slavic folklore. The music is nice too.
