It a very fun and very well polished mini-game. Very interesting idea that combines card game and racing. The game is split into runs, each run consists of about 20 battles, and the whole run takes about 2 hours. After that you start from scratch, just like in [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/212680/FTL_Faster_Than_Light/]TFL: Faster Than Light . At the beginning of the run you pick up a driver and a car, each of them adds 3 special cards to your deck. Everything else is pretty much random during the run - and those random components and gadgets define how you will play. I think this is the biggest disadvantage of the game; and no re-rolls. I wish it was more of a collectible card game. For the first 20h of gameplay you will be unlocking new drivers, new cars, and more interesting components/gadgets (that will drop at random in future runs). After that it gets a bit repetitive and boring. I did encounter one broken battle, where the opponent was getting stuck during their turn and I had to ALT+F4, but luckily this battle was optional and I could skip it after restarting the game. Other than that, I have not encountered any bug, which is a rarity nowadays. I bought the game on 40% sale, for £7.79, but even at full price of £12.99 I think it's worth the money.

Good game. The visuals are very nice, and the overall vibe/setting is unique as far as cards battlers go. It's an enjoyable game overall with easy to pick up mechanics. That being said, there are a few things that annoy me: 1- The difficulty progression as you move along the map is pretty brutal. In 12 hours, I've never made it past the half-way point. 2- You can't work on building a deck, you restart every time, choosing a car and a driver, with the same starting cards. 3- There is a 'level' to your driver, but it only appears to work towards unlocking the various cars. As far as I can tell, there is no progression of any sort that gets accumulated over time, other than unlocking parts, cars and drivers (but again, because you can't actually work towards a permanent/persistent build, these choices feel less impactful than they should. 4- Unlocking the drivers requires that a) you 'meet' them on the map (arrive at the same node at the same time - totally random) and b) that you beat them in a combat run. That feels somewhat lame. 5- I feel as though something is missing, either more story or more meaningful choices along the way... As it is, it feels a bit repetitive, and without the ability to work towards some sort of really cool build, it also feels a bit pointless as well. Seeing that level bar fill up, and just knowing that a few new parts now have the possibility to drop during the next run is not all that conductive to keeping player interest. Overall, nice game, but it could be all that much better and I fear that it won't hold my attention for long.

Brilliant game marred by strange decisions / execution. Also, the content is somewhat on the light side. Pros: + Good visuals. The art is very good and fitting for the game's theme / universe; from the menu art to the cards, character portraits, vehicles and especially the random encounter screens + The deck building aspect and the card play is very well-made. There is variety and a good sense of progression in unlocking and then choosing you car-driver combo + Although card synergies are tough to build, the damage dealing effects and enemy car destruction are very satisfying = The music is neither good, nor bad, it's just ok Cons: - The RNG aspect of the game is completely screwed-up a) All of the combat encounters are stacked against the player. The enemy cars' placement is never randomized; instead they always start in the the optimal position in relation to their equipped weapons (as if the player is each time the victim of an ambush) b) All the decisions during the random encounters have (with 1-2 exceptions) resulted in the most unfavorable outcome in my ~10 hours so far (e.g. on a 50/50 choice between loosing health and gaining money, you're almost guaranteed to lose health) - The final boss is completely OP (i.e. off the scale overpowered, with tons of action points, weapons range and damage, stacking buffs and, to top it all off, invincibility turns granted by his summoned drones). The final battle needs a serious rework - Few random event stories, they start repeating after only a couple of playthroughs - No log during play to see who played what card and for what effect(s) - A bug that deletes an old car part instead of moving it to the inventory after choosing the Equip option in the post-battle screen - No info on total damage dealt, lost health, or stats of any kind in the post-battle screen - The game froze a couple of times during the first 10 hours of gameplay - Visual bugs such as destroyed enemy cars not disappearing from the screen for the remainder of the battle

Takes a few runs to unlock the fun stuff, but once it gets going, it's almost Slay the Spire good.

I have really enjoyed my time with this game. The implementation of the board game mechanics, the UI, and the graphics and sound is really top-notch and fun. I will say that the difficulty at first seems insurmountable, but a bit of grinding to unlock some of the cards, drivers, and cars opens up a path to make the run possible, and it is super rewarding when you actually pull it off. I do think that the game would be more accessible with some kind of difficulty options. A couple of things that are frustrating are that there are a good deal of builds that just aren't going to work, and the choice of either repair or chop shop means that you generally end up with a bunch of scrap you can't use as you absolutely must take every opportunity to repair. A casual mode where you can be more creative with the builds would be fun. The mechanics of how the game works is set by the boardgame, and since I am a boardgamer I appreciate that and I am glad the developers kept it faithful to the boardgame. For the AI, though, I think it is a bit tough that the AI drivers always have all their cards, and they always benefit from an optimal setup; a mode where the drivers were less perfect would again be fun because there would be more ways to play succesfully. In the end, it could be even better, but for how much it costs there is a ton of fun gameplay here.
